It was a great idea to learn a piece by ear as well. As you said, the apps covers intervals at the moment and will go on to Chords and Scales later. I will look if I find some easy short piece that I can learn. Regarding Goo Goo Dolls Part 4, in the tabs it says Gm/5-/D but looking at the video it seems to be a normal D. Which one is correct? You can have your own set of songs that help you to identify intervals, but here you can see an example. Minor third: The first two notes of “Greensleeves”. Now a few hours later I am better and the headache is gone. Also there was some issue with my speaker so the backing track is pretty low, I hope you are able to hear it properly either way. Last time, we said I would start working on Part 4 for both the acoustic solo and Goo Goo Dolls, also record a whole take for the previous parts of the solo. Here is the take, my thoughts on it is that its pretty good. I even played part 5 (part 5 was just the harmonics). At 75 BPM which is the original speed. I can notice some timing issues at a few places (at 8 seconds for example) but apart from that I am pretty happy with the take. If I compare it to Liam, I notice he uses more dynamics and also a thinner pick. And for the Goo Goo Dolls. I am playing part 4 at 70 BPM (Original is 80 BPM). My thoughts on this take is its okay. Chord changes and the dynamics are pretty good and quite similar to the original lesson. I can hear timing issues at a few places. What are your thoughts? A short update on Goo Goo Dolls. I am struggling with the Bm to D/A transistion and the D/A chord in general. I am able to play it okay at 50 BPM, (original speed is 80 BPM so a long way to go) I recorded a video of me playing Bm to D/A, my thumb gets some pain when playing D/A. As you can hear, not all strings sound clear, I think its the B string that doesn't sound clear. Do you see if there is anything I can do differently? Also if you listen to the D/A chord in the video I posted 2 days ago, you can hear that the B string is not clear. I am going to move my thumb a bit to see if I find a position where I can help my index finger more. I will share a video of that in a few days. I finished learning the Happy Birthday Melody by ear today. I have not checked yet if it is correct but it sounds good to me. The key is G. Acoustic Solo C major, Part 1-6 at 75 BPM (Same as original speed). A few differences compared to the original take, for example Liam has more vibrato in the original lesson. and better dynamics. Otherwise a quite nice take. Goo Goo Dolls (original speed is 80 BPM), I play part 4 first at 80 BPM and then part 5 at 70 BPM. The main challenge is the D/A chord, to me it sounds pretty good in this take. I like my dynamics. The chord changes in the part 5 are not perfect but alright. What is your feedback?
