I"m trying out this new "restraint" thing in my life and in my playing. It's certainly odd, bu tit's got it's rewards as well!!!

My New #3 Ibby is a EX365

I"ve never owned one before but always wanted one smile.gif It's got a ORIGINAL WIZARD neck which is the Holy Grail for an IBBY NUT!!!!!! It's a poor mans 565 which is another Grail Ibby smile.gif

Congrats on getting a new guitar Todd!

How does it sound? smile.gif

I think that flipping guitars can be a lot of fun. Especially if you don't grow too attached to one of them.
Do you manage to break even and keep the resale value to amount you paid for those instruments?
What I found is that music gear sells the easiest out of all things I've sold via local ads. Especially if its a known quality piece of gear.

What is strange though is that I managed to sell two really low end instruments (one jazz bass and other strat - both cheap copies) for the similar price I got them for, after so many years of (ab)use. Stuff in the mid-range tends to sell the hardest.

BAD NEWS!!!!! The seller did a CRAP job of packing the guitar, and it showed up with A CRACKED NECK!!!!!! Lame. It had an original WIZARD neck and now it's destroyed. I'm pretty much infuriated by the entire thing but whaddyagonna do. I"m gonna return it. sad.gif

I usually make money on guitars smile.gif For Ebay I usually research them and buy near the lowest end of the trending price then sell near the high end of it. So I manage to make a bit off each guitar. Some guitars I make more off of. The BELLA LUGOSI LTD guitar I sold for $750 but only paid $500 at guitar center. It's easy to go backwards if you are not careful though smile.gif

Sorry you're guitar came damaged, Todd sad.gif

That would have been a gem indeed.

I don't have guitars shipped anymore just because I had one bad experience and am paranoid from now on.
I ordered a tele copy a few years ago and UPS left it on my steps in the pouring rain - I was home and to this day I swear no one knocked dry.gif

But I'm also crazy tongue.gif

Usually folks take the tension off the strings before shipping but this guy didn't and bam, cracked neck.

So sorry to hear that sad.gif

I always wondered how does it work technically with ebay and when things like this happen?
Do you just declare the item as damaged during shipping (did you find that out in front of the postman who delivered it?), do you open the item upon arrival for inspection or? I'm just wondering how post handles these issues as the guitar could have been sent damaged or damaged after it was delivered.

Hope the seller doesn't make any issues about it.
Were there photos of the non damaged guitar on the ebay listing (from that angle?).

It is weird that it cracked like that, it must have been a huge drop or something.

aww Todd, man ohmy.gif that is nasty looking. sorry dude.
In my experience with ebay, especially in recent times they are always heavily on the side of the buyer.

EBAY is very "buyer focused" so as soon as I raised the red flag and opened a case "not as described" the seller contacted me right away and sent me a prepaid fed lable to send the guitar back. The buyer usually gets the benefit of the doubt on ebay smile.gif

Sadly, the WIZARD 1 necks often crack in this exact spot sometimes just because people use 10 or 11 gauge strings. The necks are one piece of maple and not reinforced. Thats why they made the WIZARD II thicker and with a support stripe of hard bubinga wood. There are fewer and fewer wizard 1 necks as they are prone to snap and warp just from being so thin. You really have to be gentle and use 8 or 9 gauge strings and not over stress them.
