None of the bends precise...that is really bad.
I couldn't resist to to tune my ears again with the target note exercise and spent half an hour with bending only and played this lesson again. I had to do so as I lost any self confidence in my playing.

Curious if I got it now right or if Its just un-precise again ...

Hi Tom, the bends now are much closer, but there is still some room to make them sound perfectly on pitch. I think that you are going a bit higher than the required pitch. I'd like to see a video of you practising the bends, playing the target note and then bending to it. Is it possible?

Hello Gab - here comes the video....With the last (target note B on E-string) the first two bends came a little high. That is what I can hear. Curious to hear what you say...

This is ok! I don't hear all the tries perfect but after some repetitions you get the perfect pitch. This means that you need to practice in this way every day... if possible around 10 minutes and then play the lesson 3 times. This should take 15 minutes. If you repeat this block of 15 minutes 2/3 times every day, your bending should become much better around 1/2 weeks.

What do you say?

Okay - will exactly do so and share a new lesson video in about 1 week or less.

Hi Gab, after three days I feel there is some improvement on my bends? Am I on track and getting more precise?

Good! This shows improvements. It still has room to sound tighter but it's getting better. I think that it's time to work on new stuff since I think that you must be a bit bored of this one.

What other lessons are you working?

Honestly I am not getting bored with the Frusciante lesson yet. It's still fascinating me and I enjoy it . rolleyes.gif
So I would make a last video over the weekend and the we call it "finished" OK?

Then I would like to add this new lesson. Many bends are on the same notes as Frusciante which sounds like a good continuation.
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Winter-Ballad/

And here are the two others I already play (faster getting bored here ...)
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...e-lesson2-lead/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Pink-Floyd-Influences/

Currently I am 100% happy with my plan as I feel I could get better results from my practice. And I do not work on all the music theory stuff we have learned and do not even play arpeggios scales and pentatonic as we used to. No improvisation either.
Should we consider changing my plan to somthing similar you do with other students (like Phil)?

Hi Tom! Ok, let's wait for a new take for Frusciante's lesson and then, if you'd like, we can move to that kind of assignments that we are doing with Phil.

We can still focus on the lessons that you want to learn but we will have clearer deadlines and goals in order to keep moving forward.

What do you think?

HI Gab,
So there is my "last" video for the Frusciante lesson. I also put it to the REC section for feedback from Ben and Darius.
https://youtu.be/o26wUEBZ48E

So I would start with the "Winter Ballad" now and continue with the 2 other lessons.
Maybe I should add a improvisation based on the Frusciante lesson with a deadline of 2 weeks?
Or would you change anything else? Thanks much - Tom!

Great mate! Let's continue!

ASSIGNMENT #1:

Goals:

- Polishing your playing
- Improving your improvisation skills.

TASK 1:

- Work on this lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Winter-Ballad/

TASK 2:

- Watch this lesson and apply the concepts to any lesson that you'd like, it can be Frusciante's or any other. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Your-First-Phrases/

Exam and deadline:

By September 9th th you'll have to share 2 videos:

- A video playing Winter Ballad (5 coins)
- An improvisation based on Task 2 (5 coins)

Each of these videos will be evaluated (check the coins value below). You need to get at least 7 coins to pass. If you pass, we can continue, if you don't you will have a second "call" that would be the last one.

Deal! But its really thought...

Not sure if I understood to task 2 fully:
Do you want me to play the exact original lesson (e.g. Frusciante) applying the concepts Kris showed or should I improvise ?

Both options are ok. I think that Kris's concepts should help you to get a better improvisation and get the most of the lesson. If you provide an improvisation, the task would be ok.

Hi Gab,
here are my videos for assignment #1.

TASK 1:

- Work on this lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Winter-Ballad/

https://youtu.be/AeisbIlwsX0

TASK 2:

- Watch this lesson and apply the concepts to any lesson that you'd like, it can be Frusciante's or any other. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Your-First-Phrases/

https://youtu.be/Y55yyNdJBkY

For the next assignments it would be nice if the tasks leave some time to polish the three lessons I worked already on?
Maybe 30min/ day for getting these three better and I would post a video once I feel there is some improvement or for one lesson from the 3 with each new assignment?

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Winter-Ballad/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...e-lesson2-lead/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Pink-Floyd-Influences/

It would also be great if we could add some real piece of music in the new assignment that I learn step by step. (if there are no copyright issues). Should I post some ideas I would like to learn?

Thanks for your help Gab!
Tom

Hi Tom! Congrats on your great job!

Based on your submits these are your results:

TASK 1: 3 coins

TASK 2: 5 coins

TOTAL: 8/10 coins.

I've loved your improvisation! You've really captured the vibe of the lesson and made some of the licks of your own. In future improvisations you can put more focus on dynamics which is an element that I think could make your soloing more expressive.

The lesson sounds good and it shows that your overall playing has been evolving in the right way. There is off course more room to make the licks sound smoother, but I think that keeping this one for playing twice every day is a good idea.

About the next assignment, your suggestions are great! Please share here a list of songs that you'd like to learn.

Thanks Gab - I am really happy that you like the improvisation. I realized in the original Frusciante lesson that you strongly stayed with chord notes of the backing track and so I tried to keep this in mind and used only a few notes. Yes, dynamics is missing but its not easy to have bends sound natural like they have to be at this place.

Winter Ballad - 12 days is not a lot of time for me to learn a difficult lesson like this and I really need to play this more than twice a days. But yes, I would like to keep some time aside for the 3 lessons.

I did not think much ...a few songs I would like to be able to play some day ...
Given how long I need with a 1min lesson...it will be a long and stony road

-Pink Floyd from older albums like
Us and Them
Shine on your crazy diamond
Breathe
Time....

-Jack Thammarat "Never again"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myfxV8rCslM

-Andy Timmons "cry for you"

-John Mayer "Slow dancing in a burning room"

But no matter how long it takes to learn - it is all about to enjoy playing - and I really do so. And you have a BIG share on this. Very happy to work with you!!!
