Yes, for sure I will dedicate time on rhythm playing every day.... with the two lessons I still work on and I will use additional time to work on chord progressions and rhythm patterns on my new looper. For funky rhythm patterns lessons like this give great inspiration:

Hi Tom,
Yes, you're right about the scales. With all that knowledge, you can start practicing improvisation. All those things should be related in the fretboard: Pentatonic scales, Caged System Chords, Triads, and then major scale. At this point I think that there are 3 exercises that you could do: 1. Practice Pentatonic Scale Sequences over One Chord backing track. 2. Learn licks in the style that you like.} 3. Experiment with diatonic triads over a one chord track. How? Let's say that you are playing over C major chord. You can play triads from C major tonality: C - Dm - Em - F - G - Am - Bdim Experiment and see which ones sounds better for you over C chord. I recommend playing the triads melodically, not as chords. Finally combine the 3 things below. Please let me know if this is clear. -------------------- My lessons

Hi Gab,
Some delay with new videos due to tendinitis in my left hand. It really hurts to use the little finger so I had to reduce my practice time from 2.5h to 1-1,5h and use each block very wise and focused. I still have to do cooling and my finger joint is swollen. Hope it will get better soon. I will record a lesson video for each of the 4 lessons within the next four days to update you. Hi Tom, good stuff!
The lesson sounds good but there is still work to do in order to adjust the groove. I think that your right hand is not relaxed enough while keeping the up and down movement. I would dedicate some time to just move the hand up and down with the groove and trying to make it the more relaxed possible. Then, get back to the lesson. Use your body to follow the groove: move your head, tap with your foot, close your eyes, feel the groove. About your questions: How do I get those patterns - from lessons or my "inspiration" ? Do you refer to the chord tones or the sequences? So you want me to get a feel how the I ii iii IV V vi vii sound over the I chord. Is that what I should aim for? At least I really know triads now Exactly! Some will sound better than others. Experiment and identify them. -------------------- My lessons

It's a good idea to have an archive with many of these sequences and practice them diary. You can learn them from sequences lesson but also from musical lessons and solos from your favorite songs. You can identify sequences in licks as you did in my Frusciante lesson. The more sequences you practice, the more vocabulary you'll have for your improvisation. Hi Tom, nice to see this one again.
As this is a very musical solo, great for practicing vibrato, bending, and everything related to feeling, I think that it's a good move to keep it in your diary practice. You can play it at least twice on every session. The solo has some clear issues here and there, but your timing and vibrato are really good! Remember to put some focus on the posture of your right hand as we've already talked. Keep on the good job mate. -------------------- My lessons

Hi Tom! Well done!
It's really good for me to be able to monitor your diary practice. In the case of this lesson, I would focus more on dynamics since everything sounds a bit "soft" and without enough dynamics. It's also a good idea to identify the faster parts, mostly in lower strings and practice them as technique exercises. I've noted this alternate picking issues in previous lessons that also included fast runs, so why don't you group this licks as exercises for diary practice? About the creativity part, it's very important! Do it diary and enjoy it. -------------------- My lessons
