+1 to Darius's reply.
What are you gonna do with it - ? Here's the most common application using a 'mode' within the Harm. Min. scale ... Over a static E7 chord, use the 5th mode of the A harmonic minor scale: E F G# A B C D (E) -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

And to add up to Ken's suggestion, here are two lessons (har, har, shameless pluggin ) in which I involved the Phrigian dominant mode, both in riffing and soloing:

I'll deff give that a try Darius, i'm trying to learn more theory so I can try new weird things lol, it kinda keeps it fun for me that way.
I know about he Phrygian Dominant mode, I really enjoy the sound of it, it's one of my favorites, But I stumbled upon this video and was very curios as to what he's doing here, there's all these other modes I never knew existed anyone familiar with them? or that could explain them to me? is it the same concept as the major scale modes just using a harmonic minor scale instead? some weird tension that sounds cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QERG5Xr_59U |

In case of scales it is really a pure math You own it once You get familiar with rules "how to buid those" and relations "root scale for particular mode".

I know that the harmonic minor scale can also be harmonized and I thought you might want to take a look over this thread, as it explains the theoretical aspects behind it:
