Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi man. This is a good take but there's some small issues that you need to fix.

You're getting a scraping sound when you're picking. Listen to the opening riff and you will hear that your pick is hitting the strings at an angle which causes a scraping sound. You can also hear it around the last riff from 1:06 onwards. The way to cure this is by altering the angle of your pick so that it doesn't produce that sound. It will take a bit of experimenting.

0:52 - 0:57 the timing here is not as tight as the rest of the piece.

If you can fix those areas you'll be sounding better smile.gif

Hey there! Let my point some of my observartions wink.gif

At the beginning I can hear 3rd string comming out as a noise while You play that intro lick on d string. Try to mute G string with Your left hand or right hand so it won't break through when You play open D string.

Both of Your hands look very good - proper position and smooth motion. I would try to remove some gain. As You can see in Gabriels main video he does not have to mute open strings all the time (not palm muting thing - I meant muting unwanted noisess) It's caused by less gain from the amp and more from the hand. Rhythm parts does not need that much gain at all - the power usually comes from recording the double so it will not hurt the performance if You reduce the gain. It will even help to reduce the noise of unwanted strings. Of course choice of gain is always up to player but if You decide to use that amount of gain, You have to be preapred for a bit more job with muting all other strings besides the one that are being played at the moment.

Aside from this I only caught a few tiny slips with alternate picking but very tiny.

You did a great job with this one and pointed issues are very small so You can be proud of Yourself smile.gif

Hi mate, great to see you working on this one!

I can say that you have most of the lesson mastered. You can play the riffs at tempo and the chord changes are sounding smooth and most of the time tight with the drums.

The main thing to improve on this one is the tone that you get, and this is not based only on your amp setting, I think that there is something happening when you play alternate picking with palm muting. In the first section, there is a high pitch harmonic that appears, in other parts the palm muted tone sound too raspy and the note is not sounding there. You should experiment with the position of your right hand palm, moving it and experimenting how the sound changes, and the same with the pick angle. The more you angle the pick, the less clear is the sound that you get, so there must be the main problem.

Besides this, I agree with Ben about the timing issues in the section that he marked. Take care of it.

Keep on the hard work! wink.gif
