Hey Rockers,

Here's another cover. This one is to honour Ronnie James Dio as one of the greatest heavy metal singers of all time. Unfortunately cancer took him away. I was lucky enough to see him live on stage one last time with Heaven and Hell in the Netherlands in 2007.

RIP "The Man On The Silver Mountain"
1942 - 2010 Ronnie James Dio.

Very cool song choice Jeroen! smile.gif You have a very cool playing attitude and the video is well made.

On the technical sides of playing there might be few minor timing issues where you play slightly ahead of the beat when riffing (in front), usually in the verses which have a tricky palm muting rhythm to follow. I don't know if its my ear by the intonation of the guitar might be slightly off which can be heard in the solo section?

Overall this is a very cool cover video and I'm having it on repeat - I haven't heard this song in ages and it is so cool.

Well said on everything smile.gif Killer job on the entire production!!! Lots of good work here.

Sadly thouh, I hate to say it but yes, that guitar has some intonation issues that I keep hearing in every video that I see that guitar in sad.gif I think I remember JEROEN mentioning that he took it to a Luthier who said it was intonated. If this is the case, it needs to go back to a different Luthier. It's gone intonation problems that are getting in the way of the solo bits sad.gif

Thanks Bogdan, Todd, Gabriel,

I have to get that guitar checked out again I think. Or could it have something to do with pressing to hard on the fretboard? And by pressing too hard, pressing it slightly out of tune?

I think you did a great job

Yes, this might be the issue. If you press down too hard, it is possible to get the notes out of tune. Also, it is possible to slightly bend the string up or down unconsciously, therefore also making it out of tune. You could hook up your guitar to a tuner to "visually" see what kind of impact strength the fretting hand has on the pitch. If you have already taken this guitar to the luther, it might be worth examining the technique in close details. I think you have really good skills and fixing those tuning issues would mean a lot for your performance and sound.

Maybe as a test, try recording a clean solo lesson which doesn't have much bending/vibrato:

Let me say again what a KILLER job you did putting this together!! This is a TON of work and you really nailed it!!! The issue on the guitar is very small indeed and should be a quick fix for a skilled luthier. I've heard this same issue several times on this axe and it's one that some Luthiers might miss unless you point it out to them. Make sure you let your guy see and hear where the issue is. It sounds more like intonation than finger pressure IMHO, but hopefully a quick fix!

Hey Jeroen! Very nice video, I forgot that I grew up listening to Ronnie. "Bring your daughter to the slaughter?" Anyways I have a couple suggestions for future videos. I'll use this video as source but from all your videos I feel these suggestions would grab the watcher a little more.

With Ronnie in this song the guitar is mostly rhythm until the solo sections and I really like your close up shots playing the lead. It does also show your hands a bit tense. I get tense the instant I hit record so I play it a million times until I get a take genuine and natural as possible. Your video quality is unreal so maybe take just a little more time feeling more relaxed.
That brings me to the rhythm portion. The songs main focus is the lyric and a haunting mysterious powerful chords. There are long stretches of your whole body shot and you can tell your a little tense. My suggestion would be to find a way to add video blasts of you playing those chords with the rhythm. Bam bam bam. Close ups of those chords when they are most impactful. During the singing maybe take us to a place with different videos of him singing or footage of something relating to the song.
I like your videos and wish I could even come close to that quality. Keep rocking man!
