Hi Phil! Great take on Frusciante's lesson! I just feel that your bending technique could be smoother yet, the overall take sounds good. Even timing is really tight on this one, well done!

P.S Did you every get time to read the guerilla training and the other one?

Not yet, but I was thinking on it yesterday, I'll try to do it today or tomorrow.

Thanks Gab, in what way do you mean "smoother"? Am I rising and descending too quickly?

Cheers

Phil

I mean more natural rhythmically but also reaching the pitch better. The pitches are really close, but you could go even more precise with this.

Wou!! Great pics mate!! It's cool to see that you finally are enjoying that nice guitar... I want to see a video of you playing it!! smile.gif

About Vchats, I've stopped them by now to dedicate time to some other cool stuff for the site (workouts, collabs, lessons) but maybe I can be back to them in the future. wink.gif

Thanks Gab,

My next REC will be on that guitar. I was going to come into a chart the other night to get some one on one advice about my bending and you weren't there laugh.gif Thanks for your dedication to all the students here Gab, we all really appreciate it.

Another go.

Well, this take is so close. as many previous ones. Again bending is the thing that could be better, but it's better than many John's live performances. It's time to focus on new stuff and keep this one to be played once or twice each day.

Thanks Gab,

What do you suggest? I will keep this piece as my warmup for 10 minutes each day. Then the Sex Pistols for 30 minutes and then my new solo for 30 minutes followed by ear training and bending to pitch training.

I think I could go on for a long long time on this piece trying to get the bending perfect but maybe my fingers are too used to it now and are struggling to break out.

Now I am going to be given a new piece I think it will really stabilise me after the Darius problem. Having covered a piece to a fairly good standard it will give me incentive again.

Maybe this one? https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Slow_Blues_in_A_Minor/

I've put another REC take in. I'm gonna keep on posting this lesson until I get at least 3 9's laugh.gif

Thanks buddy.

Hi Phil,

yes, I think that keeping this lesson in your warming up can be good but only if you enjoy playing it. If not, we can switch to another lesson. Also, practicing bending exercises diary can be helpful.

About the lesson that you've shared.... it's great! It's not an easy one but it's a wise choice based on the elements that you need to work, so let's give it a chance during the next 10 days, ok?

Thanks Gab,
I'm on it wink.gif

Out of interest and I'm not moaning but can you tell me the areas that were worse than my last take in REC please? Last take you gave 8, this one you gave 7. I'm interested to see where I have regressed so I can concentrate more on that area.

Cheers buddy.smile.gif

It's the same mate. It's still an 8. I hit 7 by error, but as I discovered that you had a 9 from other instructor, the average keeps it in 8. wink.gif

Hahahaha,

No worries, a pass is a pass, I'm just glad you didn't actually think it was worse.

I'm working on the other stuff now. Check you PM for the example of triad exercise.

Cheers

Phil

Thanks Gab,

Yes it was changed, thanks wink.gif

OK, I've wasted far too much time the past week, I wasn't here at the weekend and the other days I have spent trying to record my acoustic (Yamaha FG 411 CE INFO) for the creativity Bucharest project, and trying to get a decent Sex Pistols tone. I thought the Sex Pistols tone would be easy but it sounds very muddy to me. I had it sounding ok through the gaming speakers but then my repaired monitor came back and it sounds awful.

I've posted questions in the main forum so everyone can read wink.gif

Anyway this is why I haven't got much done in the way of the minor blues lesson. Sorry mate.

Trying again now.

Cheers

Phil

Hi Phil! Thanks for the update.

About recording your guitar, what's exactly the problem?

I'll check the Sex Pistols thread. wink.gif

Thanks Gab,

I will keep this in the public thread if that's ok. That way more people can benefit from it if they need it.

Hope this is ok with you. I think I'll put all none lesson specific questions in there. That will hopefully save you time and open them up for others. Let's hope we can pull some out of the shadows wink.gif

Cheers buddy.

Cheers mate,

On the Sex Pistols lesson, I'm currently getting an issue. When I go from any of the chords to the A5 chord I get a gap in the sound. I'll keep trying and I'll try to get a video to you tomorrow or at the weekend to see if you can spot something.

The minor blues lesson is chugging along slowly, as you know, I've been tone seeking lately and lost a lot of time but it's all some sort of learning eh?

Latest forum question is HERE if you want to check it out. It's about finger pressure when playing chords.

Cheers my friend.

Phil
