Nice pics Phil! I imagine that it can be really relaxing and inspiring to have something like that in the garden. smile.gif

Thanks for the fingers video. That's what I've tried. There are some fingers trainers that are to work exactly that. Have you even seen them?

Also, exercises like this could help: https://youtu.be/Hg4vZvwyaaI

Thanks Gab I'll try the exercises.

A very strange thing happened this weekend though. The first time I picked up the guitar I played the JW lesson. That lick I am struggling with, I played it perfectly, three times in a row. Not just isolated but included as the whole part up to the solo. After that it went bad again.

Does this indicated anything to you?

Cheers

Thanks Gab,

It's almost like an excitement thing, you know when you have done something right after practise and you get excited and want to show someone? Then you can't do it!!!!! It's almost like that, maybe I'm thinking too much about it. Like that funny shaped piece of wire that you have to take a loop of metal around, you always seem to fail in the last 3 inches because you're excited about nearly getting to the end. There must be some psychological word for it rolleyes.gif

It's crazy, from cold, and picking up the guitar for the first time in just over a week, I played it perfectly, up to the solo, THREE times in a row, then it went to pot wacko.gif

I haven't played much tonight, I tried to sort out some noise issues that I've had for years with every processor I've had, see HERE if you want to look wink.gif

Cheers buddy.

Hi Phil,

Yes, this is part of the learning process and it's a good thing! Again, it means that you are getting closer. This happens to me very frequently. I'm always working on new stuff and it takes time to be able to play things always tight at first. The constancy in playing is what you get with days of practice.

Thanks Gab,

I wasn't going to even think about my interference issue tonight but I couldn't let it go, I'm pretty much done with it now, I think I can't do anything about it sad.gif See HERE if you want to.

So from tomorrow, I'm back in Jack White city after my holiday and excursion to Interference Town on the way back.

Cheers buddy, sorry for not being a good student lately, these things are a bone you can't let go of sometimes.

Thanks for your patience Gab.

I've sent a PM.

I have posted something below, it is a terrible take, I have gone backwards due to all of the crap going on recently. The interference issue is really getting on my tits, my ears are zooming in on the noise. I think I'm going to have to buy a laptop for recording only on batteries to eliminate the noise. I'm trying my work laptop this weekend to see if it works then I shall buy one.

I'm struggling to match your tone on this lesson with my new setup. I can hear differences but don't know what to change to get them similar so, comments on tone would be great. No need to comment on the playing, I know it's utter crap. In that troublesome lick, my index finger is now refusing to leave the A string!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mad.gif

Cheers buddy

Hi Phil!

It's normal to need a few days to get back to shape after some days with no strong practice. Don't worry about it.

Regarding the tone, it's not far, I think that it needs more "noise", from drive, fuzz, or anything else that can give it. Do a few changes every day with your ears fresh and you'll improve it with the pass of weeks. Don't pressure yourself too much and try to find a tone that you like not the exact tone that I used.

Thanks Gab,

Did you see the PM? I didn't get much practise tonight either. My wife's father had some problems we had to sort out, he suffers with Parkinson's disease and lives alone. He was refusing to take the medication from the carers because he was so confused so we had to go to his house to sort it all out. He's ok now though.

Also, I have proven my interference issues. I need to buy a laptop. Getting that all set up will take time. I have brought a laptop home this weekend from work to do some trials and I've only put the basic recording requirements on it and that has been a ball ache. You forget how you fine tune your DAW as you go on and you forget most of it because it isn't a daily adjustment.

I will get myself sorted ASAP mate.

Cheers buddy.

Just letting you know I am setting up my sound recording laptop. I forgot how tedious it is getting a computer going and I've never had a laptop before and this thing is full of bloatware that I need to weed out too mad.gif

It has to be done though mate, for my sanity, it has to be done laugh.gif

I'll be getting back on track very soon.

Cheers

Phil

Yeah, it's really annoying to set up computers when things don't work. I honestly don't enjoy it, but it's necessary. I hope that you can get back on track soon mate.

Cheers Gab,

Give me this weekend and I'll be back full time. This Helix is great but it's going to take a long time before I get the best of it.

These features look great for me when I get my teeth into it. I think you would really be able to do some great things with it with your experience of fx. The Boss GT100 was easier straight out of the box but this is going to be much much better when I fully understand it. smile.gif

Cool videos Phil! Yeah, I'm thinking on getting again any kind of guitar amp emulator device. I've had Pod HD 500 and finally sold it because I noted that it was easier for me to use software like Poulin, Amplitude and Bías. I like it but now I'm starting to miss the outside device, also because I'm seeing really great stuff coming out like Helix, Headrush, as well as Kemper and Axe AX8. rolleyes.gif
