Thanks Gab,

I am enjoying it buddy,

I think in the 30 blues riffs for beginners lesson, I think there may be an error in the TAB and GP5 file for riff number 6 which you can find on button 8 in the lesson video (Bar 25 in the GP5 file).

---------------0--------0--------0----
------------------3--------2--------1-
----------2g4--------3--------2-------
--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------

But it appears to be played like this:

------------------0--------0--------0
---------------3--------2--------1---
----------2g4--------3--------2------
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------

It's not a major ball ache, it's just that I initially learn from the GP5 file and then I play along with the lesson converted to MP3 in my DAW at a slower tempo, I thought I'd gone mad as it sounded nothing like what Chris is playing, then it dawned on me what was wrong so I had to relearn it which gave me extra practise but took more time.

I have already told Chris Harrington about it wink.gif

Cheers buddy

Phil

Thanks Gab,

I'm going to continue working on this one until it is complete, I may not get it to a REC pass but I will know it all. It's good because as you say, it's full of good riffs so there is always something new. Maybe the 30 licks one could be next. Really enjoyable long term challenge.

I'm getting a bit more relaxed with the SRV part now, albeit at the lower tempo, when I speed it up I get tense again. Its just lack of familiarity at higher speeds, that's all. It will come, it will be earned.

I'm still paying the dominant 7 chords too and they are easier now.

Cheers buddy.

Phil

P.S

It was a ball ache trying to play along with the incorrect GP file so I corrected it myself. It's here if you want to upload it.

Thanks Gab,

The TAB in the lesson is now correct but the GP file is still erroneous. Let's hope the rest of the piece is okay, I'll let you know as I go along if I find anything wink.gif

I'm not here tomorrow and Saturday but will be back on it on Sunday evening. Going to one of our favourite short break locations HERE . The cathedral was used in some of the Harry Potter films.

Cheers

Cheers buddy,

I am working hard on the blues lesson, finding some of it very tricky, once I get to bar 32 I'll post something, for now her is my weekly timing post. I think there are improvements, getting closer all the time, in a few days I might try to add the offbeat too.

Thanks

Phil

Thanks buddy,

it's becoming a form of meditation wink.gif

I have finally, with this 30 riffs lesson, come to appreciate what you call "the beautiful process", it is amazing how each day my fingers get to know where to go a little bit more, how it all starts to slowly come together is amazing and I truly appreciate it now. A big part of it comes from what i said HERE.

Regarding the lesson, a lot of it is completely new to me and very tricky but. I think sometime soon, I will get a recording, hopefully a video, playing up to bar 30 (including anacrusis). Some of it I can play at full speed, some I can't, so I will play the 29 bars at the lower speed and then give some recordings of individual sections t the speed I can play them at. Will that be okay for you? It will be nowhere near REC standard though, I give you fair warning wink.gif

Cheers

Phil

I did actually mean that the timing practise is like a meditation, like when you see them sitting cross legged going "ohmmmm, ohmmmmm, ohmmmm" wink.gif

Still really enjoying the 30 riffs buddy, it's a big struggle for me but I'm enjoying the challenge and can see improvements every day, albeit very small ones, as long as I'm moving forwards I don't care, it's when I stall I get frustrated wink.gif

The hardest things are when more than one note is played at once, chordal kinda things but I'm working on it and above all else, I working out how to make things happen. I'm going to polish bars 1 to 29 at slightly slower than full speed and make a recording this week, hopefully video, if not then audio. The section after that is a 3 string 7th chord on the EBGD strings moved around a little bit, something else new to me and my fingers don't follow each other, some want to stay where they are when the others have moved laugh.gif

Cheers buddy

Yeah! This is a real Blues Masterclass, so you'll be learning a lot of new stuff. I think that you have taken a great decision by learning this one. smile.gif

Hello Gab,

I'm still at it wink.gif I've recorded the first 21 bars at full speed below. I've actually got further than that but am really struggling with the next few bars , in particular bars 30-34 with the chord sliding part. It's just time, I know, I will do it, just need to relax more with the chords so I can slide them up and down more easily.

For now, I can play bars 1-30 quite well at 3/4 speed, at full speed, below, it's very scruffy and the SRV section is still rushed as are the two sliding double stops in bars 22-23. Been tight for time lately, it's that time of year catching up with old friends and family etc wink.gif hic smile.gif

I'm also still working on the 40bpm timing practise, I'm trying to do a kind of gallop on it now, I'll record that very soon, it's not as tight with the extra notes but that will come in time wink.gif

Thanks Gab,

I am really enjoying this lesson and will keep on plugging away until it is complete and hopefully take it to a REC pass. I hope you can hear some improvements from the last takes even though this was at full speed and not very clean.

Cheers
