Hi Rhida, great to know that this backing allows you to think on what you are playing. Please let's divide the practice in two, and provide here two different recordings. The first one only playing quarter notes, the second one only playing 8th notes. Let's keep it simple, without bends, vibrato, slides or other arrangements, just notes from the scale. Dedicate half of your timing practice time to one and the other half to the other, and let's see what we get.

Ok?

PS: Dieterle, where are you?? sad.gif

Hi dear Dieterle! yes! This definitely needs more practice. You need to concentrate on this, and dedicate enough time and attention to feel the backings groove and go tight with the rhythm. We have to get back to 4th notes for this backing since the combination is giving timing issues. So please practice today and tomorrow only quarter notes played even with the groove and share a new recording here.

We need to continue working over and over with this until you can play even every time you decide to do it. These are the roots for everything you'll play so if you don't master perfectly these exercises, the problems will appears on everything you play. So please let's make some intensive work during the next days! Ok? smile.gif

I have a little question for you both, how many time per day are you working on this task?

Hi friends!

My work for today.
I usually practice this workout between 10 and 20 mins per day as I get bored easily with this thing sometimes but I know it's essential stuff!

Well done Rhida and Dieterle - I just wanted to let you know I am monitoring this thread and having continuous discussions with Gab.

If you keep taking this seriously, we will see some very cool takes from you in future collabs!

Please also note that this kind of mentoring is a bit new to us (instructors) - so please be patient with us as we find the best way fix these problems. At this stage, it is super obvious that we have found the single most important limiting factor for you guys. In other words when we have solved these playing issues, you will experience as substantial 'threshold experience'.

Gab will get back to you with feedback and further instructions.

As I already said Kris, I am very thankful for this thread.
It pointed out some issues with my playing I would have never noticed otherwise.
My fingers don't play in time especially my third finger.
With these tasks I noticed some tension with it.
So I practice some chromatic exercices playing as slowly and as relaxed as I can.
My practice regimen has changed a lot and it shows some results.
My bending technique and vibrato are far from perfect but I am more relaxed and in control now.
Lessons are important but if you don't know how to practice efficiently they are pointless even if they are the best in thé world.
I spent a lot of time malpracticing these last years but this is way behind me now.
Kris and Gab you are caring for all your students and it shows!
You guys rule!

THANK YOU , GUYS A LOT !

It is making a lot of fun and actually i started again to play around , more,

and keep on exercising with different kind of drum patterns /rhythm .

For my main point of view is playing my own music and style .

Right now i am hanging on in - kind of blues and rock norm - and i just can not impress myself in That Box

so somehow i feel like the key for next step is really the Sense/ Mind/ Spirit for RHYTHM to brake That Wall cool.gif

Sorry my english its a break too for express my self here mellow.gif

Dieter

OK here i did two records with 80 bpm

1 and 2 hits wink.gif

Hello guys! Thanks for your new takes! As Kris said, we are discussing about this workout and we noted that you are starting to feel comfortable with quarter notes but not with 8th notes. This means that we need intermediate steps to reach that speed.

So we have a new task for you. I created a new version of the backing track, this time in 90 bpm. The idea is that you download the backing track and practice during 3 days only quarter notes over it. After 3 days of practice, record yourself playing the quarter notes over this new backing and share it here.

Attached File  AC_DC_Backing_90.mp3 ( 2.17MB ) Number of downloads: 105

So to summarize:

- Practice only quarter notes over the 90pm backing track.
- Do it diary for three days.
- At the end of the third day, record yourself and share the result here.

How to practice?

You don't need to work on this during 2 hours long without any rest. This kind of works need to be trained but also thought, so we need to give our mind time to assimilate it. That's why it's good to have blocks of practice, and if it's possible do them at different moments of the day. I recommend you to do 2 or 3 blocks of 20 minutes practicing this one, one in the morning, another during the afternoon and the last one before you go to sleep. This off course depends on your diary works and obligations so please organize it based on your schedule but practice at least 40 minutes divided in two blocks. (if you practice 3 blocks of 20 minutes it's even better!).

Deal?

Hi Dieterle! This is a good first take for this tempo. There are some moments in which you go even but there are still many parts where you are not totally tight. This means that here we discover the tempo that starts to give issues. As we need to master this, I will suggest you to work on this tempo during 2 days more to see if you can play most of the notes, or maybe the whole thing.

Please focus on going tight with the beat.

So, the next task is to practice 2 days more with the same plan of 3x20m sessions each day. Ok?

We are getting closer Dieterle! There are more even notes than early notes which is a good signal. I think that you should dedicate to this tempo at least 2 more days with the same amount of time that I suggested in order to be able to play most of the notes totally even. Your timing must be precise at this tempo to be able to do it at higher ones so my suggestion is 2 more days and a new audio to check if we can do go for a faster tempo, ok?

Hi Rhida! Nice to see you back here! Where have you been?

This new take is a good come back, it has some parts that go tight but many others that are not going even. The notes that aren't adjusted are close so I think that you just need some more days of work to be able to master this backing and be able to start with the next level. Remember all the previous suggestions about how to practice this, and what to do with your foot, head and eyes... smile.gif

I'd like to hear a new take from you in 4 days, is it possible?
