Hi there. Your timing and consistency are improving but I noticed you've changed your picking position once again. This time, you're floating your hand away from the guitar body. This will hinder you if you're an electric guitar player because it means you can't mute the strings during lead or rhythm playing.

If you go back to your first video, that hand position was probably serving you better. The position itself was ok, you just needed to relax a bit more and allow the pick to move in a slightly larger arc.

If you have the outer side of your hand resting somewhere in front of the bridge it will be an anchor point for your wrist. What most people do is have it resting on the strings in front of the bridge. It will just make things feel more stable for you. Whilst a completely floating hand can feel relaxed it doesn't give you that tactile feedback that you get when resting your hand against the strings.

If you even watch Bear's video the underside of his hand will be resting on the strings. I'd say you were ok with what you were doing in the first video. The only thing I think you needed to change was the way you gripped the pick between your index and thumb.

Hi Tom! It's great to see you working hard and progressing!

I can say that Ben's suggestion about resting your right hand will be a good improvement in your picking since you are now doing the movement better than in the past. You used to do some fingers movement while now you focus your motion mostly on your wrist. Combine both things and I think that the little timing issues that you are having on this one will slowly disappear.

HI Tom - I agree with others. Even though you managed to play the notes pretty consistently and in time in this take, I don't think this hand position/technique would work well when playing in general. Try to relax your picking and find a more comfortable position. Your first take on this lesson seems to feature a more natural and relaxed picking hand position. Please record one more take on this one (this will also be a great opportunity to practice playing tighter in time, especially in the second part where full band/drums kick in), by experimenting with a different picking hand position. I think it will only get easier from here once you have up/down mechanics down and more comfortable.
