Hi mate, the first half is much better, the second (faster) is below the pitch now, so try a bit higher but not as high as the previous take. Ok?

Hi Anese, it's again a bit better than the previous one. The rhythm of your vibrato goes ok with the backing, but the second one (faster) is still a bit lower than the correct pitch. Please keep on working on it.

Hi Anese, yes, this is better now. It still need practice to sound more consistent and regular but you are on the right track. I'd like to hear you playing the whole lesson, and if it's possible on a video. smile.gif

Hi Anese! Great job! You did a very good job with this lesson. It's ok if you continue practicing it being careful with pitch, but you are now ready to start to apply this technique on more musical lessons and your own phrasing.

Congrats for the great and hard work!

Hi mate! Thanks for the links. I think that your take on the alternate picking lesson is good so you are ready for the next step on this technique. I was thinking on this lesson that combines legato with alternate picking, in order to incorporate the work over a new technique: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/legato...cking_beginner/

and in order to continue your work on power chords but on a more "musical" situation, I think that a lesson like this one can work: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Classi...nk-Sex-Pistols/

I have many lessons in the style of at this level so you can check my archive to choose another lesson that covers the style of a band that you like more. Check my archive HERE

What do you think?

Hello Gabriel
Thank you for rating me in the REC room.
Do you think I should move on to the lessons you suggested a while back ?
I checked both lessons and they seem quiet enjoying.
if you agree with me. do you suggest to work on both lessons simultaneously ? if not, then which one I suppose to start with?
or do you have any particular practicing plan ?
let me know what you think
Thanks

This depends on you, but if you ask me, I would work on both since they cover different and important topics. It's important to divide your time to work enough each one. You can work on 1 new part of each every day of the week and after a week you should have learnt both, then it's time to connect everything and practice.

Hello Gabriel
here's my first go on the first part of the picking and legato lesson.
i used a slow downer to practice the lesson. the recorder take is at 95% speed.
is it ok to use such method for practicing?

Also while playing the legato notes i muted the lower string with my middle finger and kept moving it up to the next string as
I play up the fret beard. is that right or wrong ?

let me know what you think.

Thank you

Hi mate, the lick on the audio sample sounds great, good job!

I don't get what you mean in your question. It's ok to mute the strings that you are not playing but I should see how you do it. Do you have a video?

Hello Gabriel
I don't think I would be able to get the angle with a video.
Let me explain here...
When you pull off a string u accidentally hit the next lower string by the pull off finger. So I muted that string with my middle finger of my picking hand.. And I as I move to the next string to play another pull off - hammer on line.. I (move /tilth) my picking hand slightly up and place my muddle finger on the string beneath the string which I'm playing the hammer on pull off notes on to muted as well and so on.
Get it??
Don't forget to tell me if it's acceptable to practice with a slow downer or not.

Thanks man

I was trying to find a good sound for the punk rock lesson.
check this preset sound i found on guitar rig. how does it sound ?
also tell me what do you think about my timing for the first two chords.

there's also my first attempt on the G scale part for the legato lesson, it feels a bit noisy to me .. listen and let me know what you think

Ah ok, now I get it. I mute the closer lower string to what I'm playing with the index of my fretting hand. Even when I'm playing a fret with that finger, I use it in a way that besides pressing the fret, it mutes a bit the lower string, and also as a bare mutes all the higher ones. So this finger combined with the palm or my right hand for lower strings is enough to mute the strings that I'm not playing. Try it and let me know if you need help.

About practicing with slow downer, yeah! It's a great tool! Go for it.

The tone for the Sex Pistol lesson is ok, I think that I would set it with a bit less drive since it's not necessary to make it so dirty being a rhythm tone. About your timing, it's ok, maybe it's a very little before the beat but I'm being very strict, it's ok, just focus on it when you play it.

The lick sounds good. It has some little moments when the sound is dirty and it's related to the fact that you play the following string without muting totally the previous one. The more precise you are with this the cleaner all the notes will sound.

Hello Gabriel
How are you doin ?
Thank you very much for explaining your muting technique.
I had to start up from the begining again and adapt both of my hands to follow your advice... I think this sound
much better than the previous one .. have a listen and let me know what you think...

you'll also find scree shots for the presets i'm using for both lessons .. have a look .. and tell me if you have any tweaks to do ..
when looking to all those buttons knobs It feel like a pilot capenet to me biggrin.gif .

talk to you soon

Thanks

Great! You can check out this lesson about muting, which includes musical uses as well but that can give you an overall idea of this concept: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/misc-less...g-101-tutorial/

About your tone, I think that it's good on the audio that you sent so I don't feel you need to do some specific tweak, however it's always good to experiment with this to get used to the different tones you can get modifying different settings. The only thing that I commented is about the quantity of drive, this can be lowered from the amp or from the overdrive pedal, just experiment with it.

Hello Gabriel
I will check the muting tutorial.. thank you for referring that lesson.. I was looking through youtube the other day about such a thing .. i didnt know that I could find something like this in here...

for the Punk Rock tone .. I understand that I can control the drive from the Screamer Pedal by turning down the drive knob..but while doing that I dont hear any kind of changes.. but while turning down the preamp knop from the amp .. I start to hear less distortion... so I believe that's the way to do it in this case.
I'll post a take with the preset screenshot later on.

Thanks
