Welcome to SHRED BOOTCAMP! I'll be your Drill Instructor! And I do mean DRILL! As in a large power tool used in slasher films and Paul Gilbert concerts. Here is were you EARN THE LIVING DEATH out of your fingers and break through any speed bumps/barriers to become a MASTER CHIEF of Shred!

MISSON #1

THE MISSION

1.)Your mission is to go all the way back to the very start. The base of the mountain.

LESSON 1. http://bitly.com/gmclesson1

Which you will play SLOWWWWWWLLY, very SLOWWWLLLLYYYY until you master it at a crawl (As You'll Do With Each Mission, and focus on left hand FORM! Make it SUPER PERFECT!). Speed it up bit by bit until you feel your ready to take it to WAR (Any speed, it's up to you) Shoot a video and post it as a reply to this post. I'll then offer a constructive and brutally honest critique.

THE AFTERMATH

Upon nailing the crap out of lesson one at a speed you didn't think possible, and playing it a clean as a freshly waxed floor, you will be given your first insignia of Rank in BOOTCAMP!

Here is the link to your own PRIVATE HOUSE OF PAIN!...Er I mean.. SHRED!
http://bitly.com/chrissbootcamp

Practice!
Todd

I stayed in one position first, just to get your opinion. If it's okay, I will begin to move up the fretboard and up the strings as required in the lesson.

Thanks Todd!

WELL FOUGHT!!! You have very good hand position, hand synch, and clean mute! I want you to PUSH YOURSELF and try to do with Double/Triple/Quad pick! But you don't have to play fast, play with precision and control. Don't have to rush with multipicking!!

Your picking is SPOT ON Soldier!! The only place it needs a bit more work is when you go in to your fast multi picking and you start to drift away from the metronome. You can start and stop the metronome for each section or reset it to a different speed or even just use the kick drum by itself to eliminate distraction of the other beats. You can take pauses in between each section as well.

Just make sure that when you play your quad picked version, your picking is tightly synched with the metronome pattern! Make sense? It doesn't have to be fast, just clean. Sometimes, it's helpful to play the kick drum at a very high rate of speed by itself and match every pick strike to a kick drum strike.

Your doing well!! FIGHT ON!

It's been waaaay too long tongue.gif

I'm back in school for a double major in Audio/Video Communications and Music Recording Technologies - which means I have less time for work, and more time for practice : so I'm dusting off my fingers and am going to polish up my playing!

Lesson Three - Take One (technically three)

Thanks Todd!
