Hey Laurent, your playing it's not bad, don't worry. Trust me I'm very honest when I say this smile.gif
First of all you made a great job and I like your tone smile.gif

I will tell you my humble opinion and how I would improve your take. But this is just from my point of view wink.gif

Because your tone has more gain I personally would replace more picking notes with legato, bends, etc, because the playing will sound more fluency. Also take a little more care at bends because are a little out of pitch.

thanks

for the out of bend, i work on.... fast vibrato too, some timing issue too.

still learning and working wink.gif

about my tone, i use Guitar Rig 5 with a custom preset, an epiphone Les Paul Custom EMG (actives) ,a FA-66 fw interface , and between the FA and the guitar, a lamp pre-amp ART, i suspect this on to give a cool sound

This tone is very beautiful and even if has more gain it's still warm. I love it and it fits great with this kind of melodic solos. Great choice wink.gif

BTW Laurent, I forgot to ask you something. You learn this song after our GMC lesson made by Laszlo Boross? Because my advice with replacing more picking notes works only if you make your own version over this song wink.gif

Hi Laurent!

I'm listening to your take and I have to say that your playing is very consistent on this one. You used a very different type of tone, with more gain and effect (some delay or reverb). That makes your playing sound more powerful than the original, but I also feel that it lacks dynamics. I enjoy more a type of tone like Santana's uses because it allows different levels of picking intensities to get different accents on phrases. If you listen to the track, his "level" of gain grows as the song evolves, but he also adapts to different moments and grooves.

Your playing is good, you have good timing and your technique is precise, I think that now it's time to explore other expression tools that can give your playing more feeling.

These are some good lessons about the topic I think you should work:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Blues-Dynamics/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/writing_a_solo_dynamics/

On the other hand, I think that Monica's suggestion is really interesting if you want to keep this tone. Exploring with those kind of techniques and trying to pick less can make your phrasing more expressive and smooth. Try this also if you prefer high gain tones.

hi here

i come back with another little record about this lovely track.

do you notice some differences with the previous one ?

https://soundcloud.com/maxime-bon-3/santana

ps: you can hear a empty string sound, but in fact i have bump the head ito my windows smile.gif
this wasn't record for this purpose, but i feel something new when i played it

i have notice volume changes during the recording, it's because i play with the volume pedal......

Hi mate, I think that there are many wrong notes and unwanted noises on this one. I feel that playing less notes and focusing on playing everything cleaning is a good idea for the next days of practice, what do you think?

Your tone is fine.

Do you practice playing along with the actual Santana original track?

I would play along with the original Santana track for awhile.
That tune is all about the 'feel', the groove of the melody. If nothing else, Santana is a master (if not one of the masters) of feel and phrasing.

Hi

as some member of a french forum suggested me to do a finger played version without effets, of a little of

i decide to do this one, based on the same BT, i have record the rythm track and the lead.

i have done some errors, it's a two shoot (one for rythm and one for lead)

https://soundcloud.com/maxime-bon-3/santana-with-finger-rythm

enjoy & give me feedback

Laurent

I would take enough gain out of your tone so that you could start controlling the gain with your guitar volume knob to get greater mode swings .Your playing is enjoyable , but I believe if you could incorporate this technique it would take you to the next level.

Example: Start your first riff with lower gain and when you are about to change from the "verse" roll your gain in and see what you think
