Hello Gabriel
This afternoon I recorded the Buckethead II at 70bpm. Presently I practice this lesson at ~80bpm but I already made the rhythm section a few months ago at 70bpm, so I decided to use it. https://soundcloud.com/david-enrique-20/buckethead-ii-at-70bpm The rhythm section is recorded twice and panned 80 left / 80 right. The lead guitar is my new Vigier Expert. For the first part I used the neck pickup with low volume (on guitar), the second part I used the bridge pickup and high volume. I like this lesson very much because of the calm rhythm and first part of soloing, and then when I go to the second part much more rock ! Miam miam ! Thank you for this nice lesson ! |

Very nice take mate! I enjoyed your feeling and tone on this take. It sounds very calm and tasty. There some little details to adjust regarding timing (on faster phrases) and some bending's pitches (mostly in the last part) but the overall is very enjoyable.
Your new guitar sounds very good, and the volume pot trick works great here. The two tones used, the cleaner and the more distorted are exactly what I think the lesson needs. The rhythm recording sounds perfect. Both the tone and the performance are top level. Great job! -------------------- My lessons

I'm back on GMC, I have more time to work the lessons because I don't have many new songs to learn for my group. So, I decided to work daily on my unfinished lessons until I can post them in the workshop : - String bending ( https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginn...String-Bending/ ) - Hammer-on ( https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginn...r-22-Hammer-On/ ) - Pull-offs ( https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginn...r-23-Pull-Offs/ ) There's also the Buckethead style II lesson ( https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Buckethead-Style-II/ ) which I'd like to complete at normal speed but I'm still not able to play some phrases at normal speed !  I choose also a few new lessons : - Hybrid picking ( https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Countr...Hybrid-Picking/ ) - Boogie woogie country ( https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Boogie-Woogie-Country/ ) - A lesson a little bit more jazzy ( https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/9th-Blues-Fingerstyle/ ) I have a new amp since few days. It's a sort of Vox AC4 handwired made from an old radio and it sounds very good with country style for example ! So, I'll try to record myself directly with the camera for our exchanges and I'll record with a microphone when I'll post to the workshop (because it takes much more time). I'm very happy to be back again !  Ah, I wanted to tell you that I participated to some improvisation workshop these last weeks and if you want to listen : My take start at 3'15 with the bottleneck and my Telecaster. Alex5 is also playing on this video !  I wanted to participate to your applied theory workshop but time was missing...

Your plan looks ambitious! I think that it's ok if you manage your time correctly to be able to cover each topic deeply. That's also one of the first time that I played this way and I must say that I like very the control of the dynamics with the fingers...

Hi mate! Great to see you experimenting with a new scale. I'd like to share an interesting video about Govan's approach to modes. I don't mean that it's specially for you because of your take (which is very melodic) but it's a very wise speech.

Hi Daeron, exactly! That's what he shows in this video, adding gradually notes to the pentatonic to get the color of the mode but keep the tasty/bluesy playing that pentatonic scale gives. You are on the right track.

Hi Daeron,
Good job with the hammer on lesson. The hammering is sounding good, most of the notes sound clean and clear. The only thing that you need to improve is timing. It's not precise in the first section, and it's not reaching the speed during the faster "country" style licks. I recommend to isolate this repetitive licks and work on them over metronome. Be patient with bending. It takes time but it's a beautiful and very important technique. -------------------- My lessons

I'm happy to know that you are focused and that the hard work is showing results. The video is very creative. I like how the whiskybox guitar sounds and looks, it's very cool! I also think that your rhythm work is great here! Then, the solo is not bad but I feel that your phrasing is lacking direction. You need to continue practicing, trying to create phrases and to generate the "call & response" idea. -------------------- My lessons

About the Hammer-on lesson ( https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginn...r-22-Hammer-On/ ), I think there is something wrong with the tab compared to what Bear Rose is playing on the lesson.
In the first section, I don't ear Bear Rose play quarter notes because I ear the hammer-on a little bit before the beat. ---------------- What do you think ? Then in the next section :
Bear Rose isn't starting the lick on the "1" of the beat but on the "and", as I can ear it. I would like your feeling about that because when I practice the partition with guitar pro or with the metronome it's not the same than when Bear is playing, for me. But maybe I'm wrong ?! Maybe I could make something more melodic if I write something that I would play always the same ? I'd be happy if you accept to help me make a good solo on my little blues. Of course, not write a solo for me but help me to create it by myself.

About writing a solo. I'm obviously open to help! The difference between improvising and composing is just related to time. It's supposed that improvising is composing in real time so both are totally related. You can start writing a solo with an improvisation and then continue polishing and working on the weak parts to get the solo that you want/like. Writing a solo is not something that you learn in a short time. It's an endless learning process related to many different concepts and elements that you can work like scales, phrasing, triads, licks, etc. If you want to write a good blues solo, the first thing that you should do is to learn as many blues licks and solos as you can, and you should also learn the basic scale used for it: Blues Scale. Besides the blues scale, if you go deeper you'll find out that dominant arpeggios, combining major and minor pentatonic, mixolydian and dorian modes, and even diminished scales can be used to get different colors. In order to organize your next steps, I recommend you to search for a GMC blues lesson that is related to the solo that you want to compose. Learn it, and let me know when it's ready. -------------------- My lessons

Thanks you for your advices. That's a big program and I think I should divide it in order to have my ideas clear. I like very much melodic solos like Gary Moore and Fred Chapellier. But I think that it's maybe not adapted to this rhythm I made. Edit : Ouch, I didn't realize that there was a 3 semi-tons bend on the little e string. It's very hard for me to reach the pitch and I don't feel able to do it at the moment.
