Following the chords with its thirds is a great way to practice improvisation. You can start by playing only the thirds of each chord. Try it, and you'll see how the notes that you play go great with the chord progression. Then, you can add some other notes from the scale as passing notes.

By following the chords, we mean that you play target any of the notes of the chord in your solo to give the melody an harmonic feel. When this is done correctly, you can hear the chord progression even by listening only to the lead guitar solo. I suggested starting with thirds because it's the nicer one to target, but you can go for root, fifth, seventh, or any other note that is part of the chord.

It's not necessary to learn the whole thing but read the texts and see how the solo is build as an example to what I'm explaining here.

Hi mate, yeah, I can get the nervous feeling. What happened??

In this video you are targeting mostly roots and fifths. I would try targeting thirds, and connecting the ideas with more melodic stuff in between it. What do you say?

Hi mate, yeah, I can get the nervous feeling. What happened??

i have a neightbo who smoke at his windows and the ashes and the old cigarets are coming in my son's bedroom, because he live at the upstair.

i have ask him to pay attention to his ashestray several time, and yesterday my wife ask him another time, and he wasn't cool with her, so i climb to his home, knock at the door and when he open the dorr i directly punch his nose without any word, he knew why.

roots and fifths ? ok i must target thirds, ok, i'l ltry to do this.

if i correctly understand, i play the third of the displayed chord during the lesson: F Gm Am Bb C Dm Bb and C ?

so: A Bm Cm Db E Fm Dm E ?

Cheers

Laurent

I'm sorry about the issue with the neighbour.

The thirds are not chords but notes. Also, these thirds must be diatonic based on the tonality of the progression. For example, over F which is a Major chord, the thirds will be major (A), over Gm the thirds will be its minor third (Bb), and so... does it make sense?
