Oh man! This one rocks!

Illios will always be my favorite but this one definitely gave it a run for it's money!

The main melody is successfully stuck in my head cool.gif

Indeed biggrin.gif
Both 'cross to bear' and this track have really evoked a pure barbarian vibe. You've totally nailed this theme dude. Its awesome cool.gif
Cant wait to hear the rest of the album.

Thanks guys, glad that this one is being well received!!

There's a couple of wild cards on this album so they might be love or hate moments but we'll have to see biggrin.gif

Yeah, after listening to it multiple times yesterday I realised that both tracks had a similar slow chorus with layered guitar harmonies. It could be the sequel smile.gif

I'm still working on it... it will take years of dedication to get a ballad to rival anything from the 80's. The massive snare sounds of Bonnie Tyler etc take work, you know wink.gif

The album is finally out... after almost a year since Mr. Badass I present to you "BARBARIAN" biggrin.gif

https://benhiggins.bandcamp.com/album/barbarian

Releasing it on a lazy Sunday might not be the smartest move but what the hell, I couldn't wait wink.gif

Aw man, Its really good...... like transdimensional space goat good biggrin.gif
The track 'lost child' really blew me away, I had to have that one on repeat for about half an hour. before moving on to the last song.

Also, those melodic phrases into the fast runs with the wah at the end of 'Barbarian' ...............

................... brilliant.

Supercongrats for the new album.... i think this news needs a post himself.
I had to say that it's not and easy one... It is not an album of easy listening to the first.
But I liked it a lot. It is more personal, in what may be the heavy metal. Jejejeje
I will not tire of hearing!!!

Hahahahaha, love it! biggrin.gif

Yeah with that track Lost Child.. the very first few phrases I came up with after a while of trying things out. Once I got beyond them it's all improv. I have no idea how I played most of it.. it was truly a one off moment!

That's impressive, I doesnt sound improvised at all. I wish I could knock out tasteful stuff like that! Great tone you got on that track as well, was that the ibby you used?

Yeah, the Ibby and one of the lesser gain settings on the JVM. I think it was the Orange or Red setting on the Crunch channel actually. Add a bit of reverb and that's it.

It certainly is, homey. And, guess what? I'm using all free plugins on this track too.

In fact, all the rhythm guitarz on the album use free plugins. The lead guitars use both plugins and the JVM.

I know one has to keep his secret sauce close to the vest, but please do share your free plugin list so folks can give them all a shot! I'm on a mac so it may not help me much but most folks are on PC and it would probably help them a TON!
