This is really cool Alex! It sounds very cinematic. I like the atmosphere that you've created and the tension that it generates. What did you used to create the sounds?

Hi Gene, this is really cool! I like the backing, it reminds me to the most futuristic tracks from Steve Vai. Your phrasing has cool ideas and with some polishing you could have a really cool track. I don't think that the main problem is playing limitation, I feel that you need to define more the melodies and phrases to give more sense to the tune. The phrasing seems to be endless so after listening to the whole track I can't remind any melody. Try to create more recognizable phrases that the listener could sing...

It's only a guitar playing some powerchords laugh.gif
Two tracks playing the same chords with differents effects reverb / delay / echo /tremolo and another emulating a bass with an octaver. That's all tongue.gif

Yeah. Thanks Gabriel. There are too many notes filling too many spaces that could be free. The melody gets lost in the clutter. Or perhaps I'm not focusing on a melody and then adding from there. Rather I am playing by ear and finding connections and thinking of moving chord tones but not what they sound like as a whole. There are portions that come together but it is busy. The second take seemed less busy and felt better. But it was still full without much space.

Will have to keep working on structure. Melody and melody. Then fitting in a moment of letting loose.

Yes, I agree. This is one of the songs that came to my mind when listening to your composition. Check how melodies are worked and evolve:

Ah sweet. Something to spur me on. It has been decades since I played the banjo. Perhaps I break out for the backing track..........

That's a good starting point. What about using the helicopter sound as the rhythm track of your composition and building from there. I would be a very uncommon way but maybe the results can be unexpected!

Creativity like this has bring us new styles....

"Biomusic is a form of experimental music which deals with sounds created or performed by non-humans. The definition is also sometimes extended to include sounds made by humans in a directly biological way. For instance, music that is created by the brain waves of the composer can also be called biomusic as can music created by the human body without the use of tools or instruments that are not part of the body (singing or vocalizing is usually excluded from this definition).

Biomusic can be divided into two basic categories: music that is created solely by the synthetic animal (or in some cases plant), and music which is based upon synthetic animal noises but which is arranged by a human composer. Some forms of music use recorded sounds of nature as part of the music, for example new-age music uses the nature sounds as backgrounds for various musical soundscapes, and ambient music sometimes uses nature sounds modified with reverbs and delay units to make spacey versions of the nature sounds as part of the ambience."

Thanks Gab,

Had trouble with computer tonight (always something rolleyes.gif), only left me with 30 minutes so I had a go at this. The scenario: The helicopter has come to rescue the explorers, they are in danger so there is a struggle up the rope ladder (starting at 00:05) with feet slipping off the rungs, the long note at the end of the struggle (00:23) is to represent managing to get into the chopper with a big sigh of relief, The chopper then flies off and the rescued explorers are happy and singing songs, slowly drifting into sleep from exhaustion.
I haven't seen the film so I may be way off with the story wink.gif
I wish I could have found better chopper effects but time was short so I hope these convey the story.

Wou! Great job mate! I can really follow the story that you created, it's there! And what I like even more of this is the beautiful melody that you created which has a mixed emotions feel. I can hear that it's it's like a sing by them, with a bit of happiness but also a bit of sadness... it's just perfect. Save that melody for the future, maybe it can be part of your first solo album. smile.gif
