A replacement neck might be a little difficult to find with the 5-bolt neck joint - it might be easier and more cost efficient to just modify the neck, depending on what it is that you don't like about it. The JP50 neck to me feels like a Gibson neck which is a pinch on the thick side IMHO. Is that what is throwing you off? As Chris S. alludes to, it's not a common neck shape so most likely unless you find a higher end Ernie Ball neck on Ebay or somewhere you'll have to have it custom made. The question about the picking not really I mean it's already on distortion. I did noticed the my picking w/ my right the anchoring is weird and the motion would look corky. Jazz III picks are my favorite I can get can real close the string helped w/ sweeping a little bit too. You could always just have the neck shaped by a luthier to be whatever you want and it would still be a jp and not a frankenstein guitar. Frankenstein guitars are fine and all, just be careful as putting random necks on guitars can result in very odd tonal balance.
