What exactly do you mean by upgrading the neck? What is it that you don't like about it?

A replacement neck might be a little difficult to find with the 5-bolt neck joint - it might be easier and more cost efficient to just modify the neck, depending on what it is that you don't like about it.

You may be better off just getting a different guitar. The JP50 neck to me feels like a Gibson neck which is a pinch on the thick side IMHO. Is that what is throwing you off?

A new neck for that guitar will cost you probably 1/2 of what the guitar cost.
As Chris S. alludes to, it's not a common neck shape so most likely unless you find a higher end Ernie Ball neck on Ebay or somewhere you'll have to have it custom made.

Not really good for rolling major shapes, minor shapes reals normal or at least that's my opinion, hammer ons and pulls are more difficult you get what you pay for tongue.gif Thanks man for your help too! cool.gif

Neck profile is very personal but I felt you're describing the sensitivity of the neck that's related to electronics/pedals/amp. On high distortion, do you feel you need to pick hard to get the notes to sound right?

I just practiced w/ just clean amp sound so that's where I could tell w/ the hammer ons and pull offs. The question about the picking not really I mean it's already on distortion. I did noticed the my picking w/ my right the anchoring is weird and the motion would look corky. Jazz III picks are my favorite I can get can real close the string helped w/ sweeping a little bit too. I do focus on being clean then I think about my rhythms lol

Just to be safe, contact your instructor here and maybe send him a video of you playing.

The body on my guitar is pretty big then I get a new neck and pickups on a "ok" body (according to the one of the techs at guitar center) when I could spend a little more on a great guitar. Then my mind when into like scrapping parts. Going w/ a new guitar would be alot better cool.gif

Just play all the guitars in the shop and see which one you like smile.gif THen trade the guitar you don't like for one you do like smile.gif

Getting a new new for that guitar seems like almost a waste. You could always just have the neck shaped by a luthier to be whatever you want and it would still be a jp and not a frankenstein guitar. Frankenstein guitars are fine and all, just be careful as putting random necks on guitars can result in very odd tonal balance. I didn't like the neck on my DEAN so I just had it reshaped and BAM it's perfect smile.gif
