> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Exodus Style by Gabriel Leopardi

Hey guys, my take 2 on Gabi's "Exodus style" lesson. Kept a shredding part at the end!

hehehe I loved the last improvisation! It adds a lot to the lesson. biggrin.gif

I have to say that you are very close with this one. There is just some room to polish some of the licks and mostly the parts like the pattern at 00:12 which sounds a bit sloppy, around 00:16 that is not totally tight, at 00:26 where the riffing is not clean enough. These are details that appears here and there that need to be adjusted but the overall is on the right track.

So, keep on working, this time putting all your attention on details that will take your rhythm playing to a new level.

That's almost perfect mate! smile.gif Still need some more heavy right hand workout to keep all those downstrokes even with the beats. We can hear you slightly moving after the beat with each note from particular section. It's not an easy lesson. Can't find anything obviously wrong with your hands to give any position/angle tips. I suppose you did everything that could have been done and now it's only a matter of even more practice and control of tension/release(relax) moments in your right hand. Great job!

Oh. One tip on your tone. Try to high pass You guitar track - there is some nasty low end that covers even some part of bass guitar. There is a risk you might not be able to hear it on your rehearsal gear but it worth looking at it to remove those "boomy" moments in your take smile.gif

Hi man, you still have some issues with keeping in time during the down picking intro. This time you do have a bit more stamina and you actually even rush it a bit when ending one phrase to move to the next.

Make sure that you're definitely fretting and hitting the right strings because I swear I can hear some extra unwanted notes during the first phrase from the beginning up until 0:11.

The main riff starting 0:23 isn't clear enough. You're slightly fluffing some of the lines here, they're getting lost because the fretting hand and picking hand aren't in synch. This main riff is the biggest problem in the lesson due to the switching between palm muting lines and non muted lines. It is a challenge so I'd say you need to devote more time to these techniques to get that metal edge!
