Probably in the 'ear of the beholder' kinda thing but I thought it would be interesting to hear what different peoples idea of a 'perfect' tone would be.
The tone this dude has is probably one of the best Ive ever heard. Granted, if he is using some of the gear in the vid ( and why would you not! ) we are talking a '68 les paul and a dumble amp in the mix of other stuff so..... kinda exclusive stuff but, man, it sounds amazing!

any examples of your 'perfect' tone?

Gregor Hilden is one of my favorites too. In this video he has a great tone only with an overdrive (okko) and delay (spacetime) and Fender amp. What a tone! Of course he plays a Fender Strat here tongue.gif

And this tone is also very tasty!

That's some proper metal cool.gif I was listening to 'jaws of life' from his suspended animation album, he sounds great on that track, not that he ever sounds bad!, but it sounds a lot like that tone.

That is stunning!
I watch a lot of his videos on youtube and no matter what guitar he plays it always sounds amazing. He's ridiculously good.

Cool thread. I like all of the examples given here.

For me the amazing tone is the one that suits the mood of the backing/song and the guitarists playing style.

So its extremely 'relative' - and this is also the reason why using someone else's patch is not always the best idea (though it can be a great starting point).

Some examples of killer tones from our lessons - though very different.

Just listen to this (free software) based sound:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Ballad...s-And-Phrasing/

Or this crunchy and super tight rhythm sound:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Metal-...ers-Megadeth-1/

Stephs on-the-verge-of break up sounds are epic. You can find them everywhere in his lessons, this one has lots of them:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/25-Jazz-Fusion-Licks/

Guido's well defined and crunchy JSX hi-gain delivers everytime, and shows how expressive hi-gain can be. Example
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Dorian-Meets-Mixo/

Sorry if this turned into a plug, I guess I am preaching to the choir biggrin.gif

Great tonage is abundant with the GMC instructors. Its weird, I never used to care much for a single coil 'fender-ish' sound at all but over the last few years Ive totally got right into it. That Ballad lesson by Darius is a perfect example of awesome IMO.
maybe Im just getting old but goddamnit I want a telecaster!!

* I also think Herman Ri is cool ph34r.gif

Fell honored to me mentioned as example smile.gif The "Single coil thing" seems to be common. I've been pretending Single doesn't exist for years but once that "switch" in my mind has switched and I bacame a fan of it smile.gif

First up Eric Johnson with some single coil spiff smile.gif

how about COC with some very spiff KRUNCH/CHUNK and serious groove to boot.
VOTE WITH A BULLET

I just have to throw this in, as it's the start of my "Search for Tone" way back when smile.gif Just the Barrrruuuttttz
