Assignment VI – Metal

On this last assignment we will cover Metal rhythm and solo style. This recently published lesson by Guido is killer because it covers the style with a very modern approach and incorporating many expressive techniques that makes the phrasing really interesting.
The main thing that I want you to incorporate from this one is how the techniques and modes that we've been working on previous assignments are combined naturally, and how phrasing and melodic lines are totally clear and very expressive.

The elements that we will focus on this one are:

- Rhythm
- Combined techniques: Alternate Picking, Bending, vibrato, tapping and slides
- Combining modes with arpeggios in phrasing.

Lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/melodi...sical-elements/

Deadline: September 3rd

Yes, you can do it as in the lesson, recording two takes and using cross fade.

Cross fade? The supplied lesson backing track already has the rhythm guitar recorded in it.

Hi Guys
This is the way that a made for this Assignment.
In this lesson we have a lot of short fast licks. I can not play this in the next ten days....
My focus is more on timing bendings ,vibratos and all the other points that we have in the last Weeks!

Thanks to Guido for the new Backing. But i can not play this at the moment..

Hi Beat! Good plan! I think that this is going on the right track. You are keeping the feel of the lesson but creating variations of the licks to be more comfortable with them. This is the first rule of this program. Now it's time to keep on polishing everything and adding ornamentation that embellish the phrases.

Keep on the good job!

This is exactly what I'm doing as well. I really need to improve my speed, it's very limiting. My version doesn't have as much of the changes in velocity that Guido's does.

Two new videos for my last entries in this course! I can't believe I made it to the end, that was a ton of work. I got a lot out of this but am really looking forward to focusing on the weaknesses which were exposed in my playing. I had to get these done now, because I'm going out of town again Sept 3-9, but should have Internet access and my laptop.

First is the retake of my Steve Lukather lesson. I focused a lot on cleaning up the tapping section and was able to extend the recording a few more bars. Speed is still a big limiter as my alternate picking is just nowhere close to approaching those fast runs.

Assignment 5 Final Take

Second is the Melodic Metal lesson. I tried my best to come up with alternate parts for the fast sections. Sometimes I feel like they are a bit disjointed from the backing, but I had to record both tracks to a metronome to just be able to play them in time.

Assignment 6 Final Take

This is awesome Yoncopin!! Congrats on being one of the two GMCers who could follow and complete the whole program! If we look back, this has been 60 days of hard work that had a great impact in your guitar playing. This kind of intensive workout always affects out performance on guitar. So congrats again on your discipline and dedication.

I'll be back with comments regarding your takes and some other cool news. smile.gif
