As you may have heard, Christopher Lee (The actor who played the bad guy wizard with the long white hair that fought the other wizard with the long white hair) recently passed away. What you may not have known is that he spoke 6 languages, was a World War II hero and put out Metal albums. Here is a brief snip smile.gif
--
During World War II, Lee joined the Royal Air Force but wasn’t allowed to fly because of a problem with his optic nerve. So he became an intelligence officer for the Long Range Desert Patrol, a forerunner of the SAS, Britain’s special forces. He fought the Nazis in North Africa, often having up to five missions a day. During this time he helped retake Sicily, prevented a mutiny among his troops, contracted malaria six times in a single year and climbed Mount Vesuvius three days before it erupted

--

In his later years, he put out some Epic metal with some epic folks. Here is a clip. He will be missed. Here he is doing a collab with Rhapsody of Fire

Christopher Lee was awesome. Im a huge 'vintage' horror movie fan especially the Hammer movies from the late '60s early 70's and he was a massive part of what got me into them. One of my favourites is 'The devil rides out'. Its just a classic of that era and Christopher Lee is brilliant in it. He is exactly the dude you would want with you should you ever find yourself in a spot of bother with some Satanists smile.gif

Another of my favourite movies is the original Wicker Man, not really a horror movie but its brilliant. As ever, Christopher Lee plays his character perfectly.

Well, there comes a time for each of us, so there is no point in being too sad about that. He really lived his life to the fullest.

Funny fact that Tolkien said to him, that if there would ever be a Lord of the Rings movie, he should play Gandalf.
