Hi,

I work my lessons each day, I've nothing to show you yet.
I can play Epic Metal lesson at 70/75bpm, I up the tempo a bit each day but I can't play it at full speed yet.

I've started too a Darius 's beginner solo lesson I play it at 70bpm and the regular tempo is 120bpm.
I prefer to work it slow and clean to begin.

Is it possible to download slow tempo BT on the lessons ? I can't do it..

Hi Gab,

I've still some issues to fix on my lessons. I think they are too difficult for the time I've to spent on guitar at this time. I keep working on them, and start a new ones to stay motivated.

Great! Well, I used a Marshall amp for that amp, it was a 80 wats combo so you can start with something similar and try to find the right EQ balance.

First take

I need to focus on bends, they're not good.

Edit :

Speaking of bending, I've a problem with that.
I can play them with the right pitch when I'm improvising but it's difficult to play them well when I play an existing melody as a lesson or a song.

Here's my last impro.

I think when I play a melody which exists yet a big part of my head is focused on "What I have to play" and when I improvise, I'm just connected to the guitar.

Have you some advices ?

Hi Alex,

Frusciante lesson needs focus on two elements:

- Bending: You've already noted this. You are not reaching the right pitch. I recommend you to work on small blocks and practice playing the target note and then bending to it for a while until you get comfortable with each bend.

-Timing: You are not playing this one tight, and you play some phrases different compared to the original lesson. So please review timing and rhythm.

The improvisation sounds nice. You still need to give more direction to you phrasing. Improvisation is a life journey so keep on practising every day, adding new licks, techniques and exploring new parts of the neck. Analysing improvisations from your favourite players is also a good idea.

Hi

I'll post these days a take of Frusciante lesson on REC zone.

I've well progressed on Gary Clark lesson. Need to improve the end solo part.

I've started the Paradise Lost Lesson.

About covers, I try to play Muse's Plug in baby (I play it at 100bpm well, real tempo is 136bpm)
And I've started too Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson which is easier.

That's all smile.gif

Hi

About the Paradise Lost Lesson, I suppose I must do both guitar lines.

Usually, I use Windows Movie Maker to make my videos. I know it's not the best (far) but enough for me.
But, I can't put 2 videos at the same time with it.

What is your software to make that ?

Hi Alex, it should be possible with any video editor, use google to check if it's possible to do screen on screen on windows movie maker. I use Adobe Premiere to do it, but again, you can use any video editor.

Hi Gab, I'm back,

I've a lot of reasons being far on GMC these last months : i've finished my new house, I've got a new job I loved, and unfortunatly, my mother died..;

I'd need time to pratice guitar again, but it's OK now.
Let's start with a new video, the Uli jon Roth lesson by Ben.
i've submited it to the workshop...

Hi Alex, great to hear from you again mate! This lesson needs some polishing regarding some elements that I'll list here:

- Vibrato: If you compare your vibrato with the original lesson, you'll notice that Ben is doing a faster one trying to emulate Uly's style. This gives the phrase a very unique feeling, I think that it's a good idea to try to emulate it a bit more since it will give you more tools for your own playing. Besides this, there are many vibratos, that even being different to the original, sound weak so the technique definitely needs work. Remember to use the other fingers to help the one that is doing the vibrato.

- Bending: The pitch of your bends, mostly in the last phrases (higher frets) is not precise (00:35). However, there is something related the tuning of your guitar that can be happening there too. (maybe old strings? or calibration issues?)

- Timing: The timing issues appear around 00:20 with the slides. It's not dramatic but you can play this part tighter. The problem continues the following 10 seconds.

- Articulation: If you listen to the original lesson you'll notice that there is some work done regarding articulation, which refers to the duration of the notes, and how they are connected along the phrases. There are many shorter notes that give this solo a staccato feel. Go for it!

Ok mate, that's all by now. You have many things to work so I hope to see a new take from you in 1 week.
