I'm in, I'll have to adjust my schedule and drop time on other things but improvisation is good to study.

DOH I jumped the gun a bit there. Sorry So now I'm the one who does the question. Why is this system called "CAGED"? -------------------- My lessons

It is based on the open chords C A G E and D and the scales built around those chord shapes.

Great. So lets see if I understood this right... We have to learn the following: 1) C Major scale based on the open chord shapes of the C-A-G-E-D System 2) G Major scale (2 Patterns) 3) Diatonic sequences ***Question: where do these sequences come from? Is there any theory behing them or are this just good sounding sequences you created? 4) I-IV-V Arpeggios of the G Major scale Once we are somewhat familiar with the above we should improvise against the backing and can apply any or all of the 4 things listed above. Did I get this right? Is there a deadline? Hi Tom! Great questions! Yes, that's everything you need to learn during this first week. Remember that the scale shapes are movable so once you learn the 5 shapes of C major, you already know the G major shapes, just that you start them from its roots- About the diatonic sequences... diatonic means "using only the notes from the scale" and sequences means "an arrangemente of scale pitches whose relationships are repeated on each step of the scale". This arrangement is usually based on different intervals or patterns and the possibilities are infinite. On this assignment, the two sequences used are "groups of four" and "diatonic thirds". About the deadline, it's supposed to be 1 week. But as we are just starting we will experiment and set it in 10 days. I'll add the date on the previous post. -------------------- My lessons

Ok, so if i understood : CAGED system shares the same form of "chords". If I play D chord, I can play 4 others position of D chord inspired by the form of C,A,G and E chords . (and conversely) There is 5 positions to know to play a chord from CAGED system. am I right ? Exactly! Feel free to post your own tabs or video showing this concept to let me check if you are totally right and also to help other students. -------------------- My lessons
