Hello everyone,
Local shop has an Elevenrack for sale at a good price BUT I've read THIS review and it's scared me.
Scroll down about a third of the way to where he starts talking about how much he had to spend on his PC to get it working.
Is he blowing out of his ass or is it correct?
Cheers
Phil

Success is not obtained overnight. It comes in instalments; you get a little bit today, a little bit tomorrow until the whole package is given out. The day you procrastinate, you lose that day's success.

Don't be scared. The review you've linked to has jumbled together two reviews: one for ProTools LE and another for the Eleven Rack. Many of his complaints, including the bit you seem to be most worried about, where he indicates he needed to buy a new PC, is about ProTools, not the Eleven.

He doesn't seem happy with the sound of the Eleven, but there are plenty demos you can find to listen to and you can try it yourself. I'm sure Todd will chime in here to let you know what he thinks smile.gif.

I've got one and I LOVE IT. I shared every preset that I made in my preset vault in my personal board here on GMC. You don't need pro tools anymore to run the 11 rack. It has a stand alone editor that you can edit patches on mac or pc and it makes a great recording interface.

There is a new version of pro tools called PRO TOOLS FIRST that will let you get used to pro tools for free which works great with the 11 rack. But you can also use REAPER or any other daw with it for recording. OR use it by itself without any software. If you can get it under $300, I'd say go for it smile.gif

Cheers Todd,
If it is second hand can you get the stand alone editor from the manufacturer?

Sounds like you may have waited to long on the store unit. If you see another one, snag it! smile.gif It's better to by local than to try to ship all the way across the pond and hope for the best. It's a long way to travel and if there is an issue, you have a long way to ship it back and the shipping will NOT be cheap, not to mention the problems at the border where they try to snag you with a big fee.

I tried to send a noise gate to ben higgins in the UK and listed it as a "gift" to avoid customs fees but to no avail and it was so pricey to get past the border that he just let them return it. Of course, I"m sure some folks will tell you the exact other thing. THat it's smooth as glass and all. But my experience is that it's NOT worth it to go across the pond.

Another one will come along locally, you just gotta pull the trigger a bit quicker smile.gif

Todd

I have and use an eleven rack and I love it. if you do buy one ask the seller if it has the expansion pack pre installed, otherwise it will cost u $99 to download it into your eleven rack editor...this gives u all the artist pre sets....good luck..and u can download a free version of pro tools-first...

Thanks Todd,

I get things from Rob Balducci in NY like dvds and don't have an issue with customs but I agree, something like an electronic unit could be a hassle of something went wrong.

Cheers
