They can do that? sucks sad.gif

This is how it went.

Contact Reason: I have received a refund I didn t want. I wanted the item but seller refunded saying PayPal would transfer money to his account. I won the item fair and square, that is not my issue.
(AGENT) Jiselle Marie: Welcome to eBay Live Help, my name is Jiselle. Please stay connected while I review your query.
(AGENT) Jiselle Marie: Hello Phil, hope your having a great day despite of this issue.
(MEMBER) Phil: Yes all is good thanks; you?
(AGENT) Jiselle Marie: No worries. I understand that you are concern with the item that you purchase and your seller refunded you.
(MEMBER) Phil: Yes that is correct. I never asked for a refund he just gave me one
(AGENT) Jiselle Marie: I see. Since this is the case, I would advise that you leave an appropriate feedback and detailed seller rating as this will affect their future transactions.
(MEMBER) Phil: But isn't it against the rules when I won the item? He even put it as posted!!!
(AGENT) Jiselle Marie: I truly understand how you feel about this, Phil. eBay takes seller non-performance very seriously. Sellers who do not complete their transactions without valid reason are violating our seller performance standards. We hold them accountable through our seller standards.
(MEMBER) Phil: So can't you make him send it?
(AGENT) Jiselle Marie: I am afraid that I would not be able to do that, but once you have left an appropriate feedback and detailed seller rating this will be reflected in the seller's monthly review. A monthly review showing poor selling behaviours can result in disciplinary or corrective actions. There is no longer a need for our members to send us a separate report.
(MEMBER) Phil: Ok thanks. I'm pretty upset about this. Thanks anyway.
(AGENT) Jiselle Marie: You are most welcome, Phil. You may leave a feedback by using the link below:

Doesn't help the winning bidder any does it? mad.gif

You're right to be angry, this is just plain stupid and simply wrong. To me its really not about money either, very weak move hiding such behind ebay loopholes...

Well, I guess everybody bumps into such issues when they actively use the web to buy stuff. I'd say just send the unit and get your money back, write an epicly-negative feedback to get rid of the anger and move on...

I got my money back but didn't want it. He marked as posted them issued a refund because he said that PayPal would put the funds into his account. That's his issue with PayPal, not my problem. O even emailed him and offered a cheque. No reply, that tells me even more that he didn't get what he wanted wink.gif

Can't leave much feedback, only allowed 32 characters, not even enough to explain what happened really.

I'm over it now mate,

Cheers

Will do! Hopefully I will get the call in a bit. I was planning on heading that direction a little later on to do some shopping at Home Depot. smile.gif

I got the call yesterday afternoon and agreed to meet the guy at the music store where I ordered the Rockerverb and the folks at the store graciously allowed me to test out that Ibanez through the Rockerverb they had in the store. First of all, the guitar was hardly mint with a couple small dings and light scratches. And I wasn't really impressed with the finish on the guitar either. I don't know why really but it just wasn't as nice looking as the pics I had been looking at on the web. Not at all the most important thing I was concerned about but still it was a strike against buying it.

It turns out that all the mods that were done on the guitar were done by the owner which was a bit of a red flag for me too. He may have done a great job and I really couldn't find anything obviously bad that he had done but still it was an issue because I just don't know how qualified they guy is. He did seem to be pretty knowledgeable about it all while explaining all the things he had done and seemed to be honest about everything as well but still this was another thing that gave me some pause.

I played it for quite a while going through all the pickup configs, playing it with clean tones as well as dirty, volume knob rolled back etc. And the bottom line was that while it was a nice instrument, it really didn't feel right to me. It just didn't call out to me. Part of the reason I guess is because that was only the second time I had ever tried out a 7 string. It was almost like buying my first 6 string all over again and not really knowing what I wanted if that makes any sense.
I did think that over time as I got used to that extra string that it would grow on me so I hadn't completely ruled it out at that point but when he wouldn't come down to what I was willing to pay, I had to pass.
I guess I would rather spend a little bit more and get something brand new rather than spend 1200 bucks on that used one that really didn't turn me on as much as I thought it would. Oh well, there are plenty more 7 strings out there. smile.gif

PS: Today on Craigslist there is a 2013 Music Man JP6 Stealth for $1200. rolleyes.gif

Good call. I'm a big believer in what Frank Zappa said:

"If you pick up a guitar and it says, "Take me, I'm yours", then that's the one for you."

I am right there with you man. Most times if I am trying out a new or used guitar, I will know within the first few minutes of playing it whether or not it calls out to me. It just didn't go down like that this time around. This is the reason I will never buy a guitar without playing it first.

Good call smile.gif If a guitar doesnst speak to you, there is not much reason to get it. If you could have gotten a steal on it, and had some meat left on the bone if you needed to sell it, maybe, but not getting a steal on a guitar that isn't giving you the fizz, pass! Well played smile.gif There are wads of other 7s out there. Try the petrucci and see what you think of the neck. It's a switch from your ibby to be sure but very playable smile.gif If you happen to find any 7620 Ibby's listed, (they are a couple decades old) take a look as they are the series that got rebranded as the 7 string prestige with a couple mods. Then again, someone is probably going to sell their VAI 7 at some point. Just gotta be patient smile.gif

I feel your pain. I've had sellers yank guitars from me at the last minute. One time when I got a great deal the guy just didn't want to do it. He expected the guitar to sell for more. When it didn't he just kept it.

It won't help you at all but, leaving negative feedback will have a negative impact on him as a seller. I know it's cold comfort but that's all they do. They are not police or anything so they can't go and force someone to do anything. Sorry you didn't get the item you wanted sad.gif Ebay is a bit of a gamble that way. It's not like going in to a shop and putting down cash, it's a two party transaction where one party can sorta flake out.

The things we put up with for gear!

Anyone know anything about DBZ guitars? I am looking at this one on Craigslist and waiting to hear back from the owner as to the exact model and year of the guitar so I can find out what it sold for new and to check the specs and reviews.

The best match I have found for it is a Barchetta BARST7-FR from 2012 but I haven't found a price yet.

I've owned one wink.gif I sold it to a GMCer in fact! it was a DBZ BARCHETTA 7 string. I won't name him as I didn't ask him.

It was a very nice quality build and a limited run with special paint. it felt light in the hand but had great sustain. The only reason I didn't keep it was the neck was more Les Paul than RG and I had just sold my Les Paul as well. But they are fine guitars imho with a solid build. I think I charged $300 for mine and it was just out of the box. I only played a few times and once was during vid chat smile.gif The one you are looking at has a floyd so add $100. I'm thinking offer him $400 in cash and work up from there? Depending on how it feels in your hands of course smile.gif

I was thinking the same, offer $400. Especially after the long and pleasant conversation I had with the folks at Diamond DBZ a bit ago. When we were talking about the necks of the older ones (which this one appears to be) they had a thicker V shape neck than they did later on. He told me to look for a serial number that starts with a "W" and at some point during that series is when the neck shape changed for the better.
It is probably most likely that the neck on this one was the same as yours, Todd, but we will see how it feels.
The guy at DBZ said $600 was too much if it is was what it sounds like from my description of it but he couldn't be absolutely sure without the serial #. However the logo on the headstock makes him fairly certain it was made before 2012.

This one was one of only 100 made with this special paint. 300 was a fair price. 400 seems more than fair adding a floyd smile.gif See what you think when you play it like you said though!

I think you are right!!! Great sustain on it from the set net. Here is a quick vid of my recent buy, the Rusty 7 string "exotic" (because it's got a posh top) Gotta say I dig it smile.gif Under $500 for a high quality 7 that lists for over a grand. Seen them as low as $400 on ebay. If you are open to ebay, I can vouch for this model.

I had a nice chat with the guy last night. Turns out he is a drummer for a band up here and they are releasing a new EP and will be doing some shows this spring. I am going to meet with him tonight and check out the 7 but it sounds like he is firm on the price. Going to get on the phone with the guys a Diamond DBZ again today and run the serial # so I can find out when it was made and if it is worth it.
Here is a link to the guys band Reconstruct.
