> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Charles!

This is a good choice to start. Your take shows that you have a good sense of rhythm and timing which is very important. This video also shows some techniques that you need to adjust and elements to focus during the next days of practice:

- Alternate Picking: Your speed is limited. You lose hand sync on fast parts and one of the reason could be the use of right hand fingers movement when this technique requires that you start the movement from your wrist. Let's work on this at the mentoring thread!

- Vibrato: Your vibrato is not bad but if could be more consistent. Sometimes it's irregular, while other times is weak.

- Bending: You need to be more comfortable with bending and more precise with pitch.

Nothing is very serious but these are some starting points to set goals and plan guitar routines.

Let's keep in contact. You have a new thread to work together HERE.

Hi Charles, this is a good effort. You've got most of the foundations in the right place but let me add to what Gabriel has rightly pointed out.

Aside from bending, vibrato and alternate picking I see that timing is an issue in some places. But it's more of a case of you starting licks too late, which you can hear at 0:06 and 0:12. In both of those case you start those licks too late - have a listen to the original and play along with it to identify where you need to place those licks.

The pentatonic lick at 0:36 - you need to play the first note of this lick on the bar before so that the main beat of the rhythm occurs when the second note of the lick occurs on the 8th fret.

You can play those licks - you just need to place them correctly over the beat smile.gif

Hey there! First of all you did a great job. There are some things to polish but your take at this point is already quite enjoyable and does not leave any unpleasant feelings while listening smile.gif

I like your picking hand - even if it needs some more practice, it does create good quality sound with proper strength and confident motion. Things like hand sync and perfect timming will come thorugh time wink.gif

I also think your long fingers are huge advantage and it should make some things a lot easier for you, in the future wink.gif
