Show off riffs... everyone has their own! I decided to start this thread because although I do know a series of 30 second riffs (mostly stuff I've gathered from GMC!) I don't have any solid mixes of these riffs into a 3 minute or so show off session.

So what do you all play in scenarios where you are trying to impress? We all experience these times, whether it be at a guitar store, around friends, or maybe someone who has challenged you? rolleyes.gif cool.gif

Eruption tapping around people that don't play guitar. It's so easy to play but they are like DUDE YOU ARE SO GOOD MY HANDS WOULD FALL OFF IF I PLAYED THAT FAST, NOW DO IT AGAIN. Then more people come over and they are like "This guy is so good he can play with BOTH hands on the neck, I mean it's just so amazing, I've never seen someone this good." What they don't know is how much of a joke tapping is...

I play the hardest riff I can imagine at the moment, then I speedpick a bit and i finish it off with bluesy pentatonic improvisation wink.gif

Nothing that ZakkWylde cant handle wink.gif

I really do like to do some tapping to impress. And maybe some legato . My friends tend to get excited when I bring my right hand over my left for some legato. But to me I just think, Kris and Pavel would laugh at me tongue.gif

But one thing I hate when I try to impress someone is that they always want to hear a d*mn song ! And I mean I know some songs but like I dont know the stuff that they want to hear ?!? Thats why I hate learning "songs" unless its something I made on my own tongue.gif

I know what you mean man! And for me anyway, it always seems they want to hear some bogus Disturbed or System of a Down song, where it's always in a non-standard tuning! Always gets me dry.gif
