I would like to do it but i dont understand how to make songs out of 1 mode...

Don't worry, this is only the first of many collaborations, maybe I'll do an easier one next, like 12 bar blues smile.gif

Each person gets 8 bars, the 8 bars that relate to your mode - they are played one after the other in the track in this order:

Ionian
Dorian
Phrygian
Lydian
Mixolydian
Aeolian
Locrian

The finished song will just be the backing track as it is now, with 7 different solos mixed in every 8 bars.

If you are unsure about modes, check Daves latest lesson - its actually the same backing track, but he shows you the scales as you work through it.

So, you have Ionian, which is the same as the A major scale. Your part is the 8 bars starting right at the beginning after the lead in. When you get your software with your guitar port, you need to set the temp of the song to 100, then import the backing track - the bars should line up with the song and you can count the first 8 after the lead in.

Nick, yeah its a solo/lead man. Just use the mode you have chose. A good tip of when your "turn" is up is the drum fill at the end of the 8 bars smile.gif

I wish I could help but I'm not familiar with that software.
But I think there should be an option for you to import the backing track into the session and then create a new track for your solo.
When you post your lead on here, make sure it's the lead only (without hearing the backing in it..)

Hi David,

I finished my lead - although I'm not making any claims about it because it's sloppy and not very good. Anyway, I assume that you don't want us to record blank noise with our solo's and you will paste them in the appropriate spots. Hope this works and it's what you had in mind. If not, go ahead and trash it and let someone else make one. I didn't spend much time on it. It's weird hearing it without the backing tracks. Sounds a lot worse!

Looking forward to hearing all of them.

Jeff, you've got a great tone going there - what's your setup?

Really? Doesn't sound like that for me - must be the PRS and your playing skills smile.gif

Does the PTS have humbuckers? I'll have a play with that again I think.

Guys, this is excellent work.
I can't believe I already go half of the leads done!
I started mixing what I have and it sounds great.
Thanks! Looking forward for the rest!

I still need:

Ionian (Nick325)
Phrygian (Stratman58)
Mixolydian (Tank)

Great job!

It does have humbuckers, but mine has a switch where I can use it single coil and that is what I did. I have tried it switched to humbuckers but it seemed to be a little too hot - too much distortion.

I am really out of practice though and I can tell. My scale is not as fluent as I would like and it seems that I may be picking the strings a little too hard or not muting them properly. But, I need to work on that! smile.gif

Thanks, I was so puzzled when I started on it since it sound so aqward. But that's the fun part to try something I'd never try elsewise.
