No problem...
Let's wait for all the modes to be taken, then I'll post the official participants list..
Don't record anything yet because I need to decide if this will be distortion or clean..
I'll go with the majority of your choices, just to have a more consistant lick...

Nick, you forgot to tell me if you want a clean or distorted sound...

Ok, so far 3 people have officially signed up...
Here's what we have:

Ionian : Nick 325
Dorian : Ezravdb
Lydian : Andrew Cockburn

That means we have 4 modes left:
Phrygian, Mixolydian (Robin, you wanna try that one?), Aeolian and Locrian...

We need you guys!

And don't worry, it doesn't need to be perfect.. It's just an exercise and is a god oportunity to improve.. :-)

Before I post I'd like to clarify 2 things. 1 being that I'm still a beginner and I'd like to try this and see how well I can do (even though I may embarrass myself biggrin.gif ). And 2, my only means of recording is a small microphone I have sitting on my desktop. I have recorded with it before using the little recording software provided by windows and the sound is completely terrible. What I'd like to know is, should I get better recording software and still use my microphone? Will this help with the quality at all or is the software just better for editing and such?

And so in the event that someone understood me and my crappy mic can handle the job then I'll take Phrygian, distorted tongue.gif
And if you think my sound quality won't be good enough for this then thanks for the help and I'll get to work on finding a better way to record.

I'm signing up for Phrygian, distorted.

I don't know squat about modes. Andrew, can you post a link to appropriate theory lessons when all this get started, please? I could probably search for them but if you tell us it's the right ones for certain. Thanks.

EDIT: Phrygian got snatched right infront of me eyes. Rarrr. Make that Locrian for me then.

Thanks for writing Alimo...
The only problem I see here is that teh mic you use will also pick up alll the other sounds in your room includingf the backing track..
It will not work since I will import all your leads into the main track and mix it...
Is there a way for you to plug your guitar directly into your computer?

Locrian is brutal, but I'm sure you can handle it smile.gif

I have a couple of lessons on modes here:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...?showtopic=3456
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...?showtopic=5012

No scale diagrams yet though which is probably what you will need the most - I suggest you consult an online tool such as:

http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/guitar/index_rb.html

To give you the scale diagrams and notes.

Regards,

Andrew

P.S. I just re-read your sig with all the amp stuff in it, and for the first time instead of reading "blah blah blah blah" I understood it smile.gif

Definate;y the toneport if you can afford it - a lot more versatile than the stealth.

I'd go for the Toneport. Looks similar to what I got with my Guitarport and that works just fine.

This thread is getting confusing!
For the next one, I'll create one topic for signups only, and the other one for questions and discussions related to the collab...

So far, here's what I have:

Ionian : Nick325
Dorian: Ezravdb
Lydian: Andrew
Locrian: Mickey M

There is still Phrygian, Mixolydian and Aeolian...

The Phrygian is still available for signup since the mic thing won't work...

Great!
So I still need (I might have missed that in a previous post) Stratman58 and Mickey M's sound that they want to use...

There are 2 more open slots:

Mixolydian and Aeolian...

Any volonteers?

Once all the 7 spots are taken I'll give you further instructions...

Sorry if this is kind of confusing, but this is the first collab test, so it will get better eventually in the following ones!

Here's the list I have so far:

Ionian: Nick325 (distortion)
Dorian: Ezravdb (distortion)
Phrygian: Stratman58
Lydian: Andrew (clean)
Locrian: Mickey M
