> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Neoclassical Three-Level-Lesson, Beginner by Marcus Lavendell

Hi Guys, Here's my second take of this excellent lesson. I've worked hard on getting the right kind of vibrato for this kind of lesson. Hope you like it, Cheers Peter

Hi Peter,

great to see you still working on this one. It's a good desicion to put all your effort on making this one as expressive as the original is which is inspired in Malmsteen's style of playing. I think that there is more room to work on this direction. Your vibrato can be more aggressive and consistent and I feel that your picking and also have more dynamics, in other words it can be stronger for some notes.

You need to get used to this aggressive playing so keep on practising until you feel it more natural.

Hello Peter this is really good. I wasn't able to remind myself of your previous take as that video wouldn't play but I'm sure this version is the superior one wink.gif

Your vibrato is definitely stronger than usual.. especially with that first whole tone bend. It sounds very Yngwie. My only suggestion would be not to cut the notes off too quickly.

The picking is mostly very good as well there's only one place where you lose the timing a bit at 0:10. I think your fingers rushed a little?

Other than that, really nice tone and great playing smile.gif

Hey Peter! I'm sure I don't have to write again that this is another of your descent takes...just as you made us get used to smile.gif

Your vibrato went wider than we usually hear in your playing - I think it's right for the purpose. I have no huge complaints on this take. I just had a weird feeling about your bend at - 0:06 - mainly the finger choice. It makes doubts due to the variation of notes that comes riught after. Usually players would use ring or pinky to bend that note. This way you would use at least 3 fingers to make the bend and this would give even more control on the pitch and vibrato width. Just a suggestion smile.gif
