I noticed there are lots of threads about this topic of picks but perhaps not a recent one. What does everyone use here?
Here's a video about mine and a discussion around them.

Hard to tell from the video but looks similar to jackson picks I've seen.

Today I bought my 3rd nylpro pick smile.gif the 2 was given to 2 different friends as they liked it so much after trying, both plays fender guitars so I guess singlecoil guys should give it a shot;

I mainly use a standard Jazz III or an Ultex Jazz III, and on occasion a Von Hotch Invader for guitar unless I am doing a bunch of strumming, in which case I will use just about any standard shape guitar pick that has a bit of flex to it.
For bass I like the bigger JP Jazz III's.

I've tried/used most every pick mentioned and still use various picks. Most of them are along the same lines as the ones mentioned, as in POINTY. smile.gif My faves are the Vpick Switchblade Buffed (my signature V-Pick) and the VonHotch Octavious (my signature vonhotch pick, gabe has a signature version of vonhotch picks as well)

The Neon Green one is the octavious smile.gif The rest are just pulled from my "Pick Skull" bowl.

Lots of "pointy" pick people in general it seems which I"m all for smile.gif I remember when I used to have to take a knife and shave my picks to a point and bevel the sides. Eventually, vendors/manufacturers started picking up on the idea in droves. Jazz III's had been that way a while, but other got on boar and now nearly every pick vendor makes at least one or more pointy picks smile.gif It was not always the case though. When I first got my Vpick switchblade buffed, working with Vinni @ Vpicks (around 4 or 5 years ago), there were little if any full size pointed picks to choose from. Now there are tons of them. Thank goodness smile.gif

I also like Dunlop Stubby picks. A bloke called Simon Lees got me into them and he's a hot player recently the guitarist for Budgie.

I use Jazz III XL Black. I'm not crazy (I like to believe this biggrin.gif ) but I feel and I hear a huge difference between the black pick and the red pick.

Very rarely and only if I need to adds more crunch to the tone I use Dunlop Max Grip 0.88.

You're not crazy.
The red and the black are different (rouge et noir, Stendhal wink.gif )
I only like the Reds.
I think it has something to with how the material takes the color or how the color affects the material.

Yeees....finally somebody understand me!!! I'm happy to hear that I'm not crazy or at least I'm not the only one wink.gif
Everytime when I said this thing to my friends or even in the music stores people thought that I'm totally insane. I had a bunch of fights about this thing until I decided to shut up because apparently some people can not feel/hear visible differences or not even trying to do this.

I have the same kind of pointless discussions when it's about guitar cables. No matter in how many ways I try to explain or show in real demos those differences, it's always a lost war. Some people can hear how picks and cables affect the tone...some people don't wink.gif

With the Jazz IIIs, out here at least, it's a known thing that the reds feel different than the blacks. Personally, to me the material feels different to the touch and even looks different. If I'm not mistaken even Dunlop acknowledges the difference. Yes, it says it right on their website ... http://www.jimdunlop.com/product/jazz-i-ii--iii Scroll down a bit to 'info'.

With cables - length and quality (within reason) affect tone and feel, absolutely. Again, this is a known quantity. I don't think you have to spend $100 on cables but if you're using the $6 special from the discount bucket next to the cash register and you're having some tone issues ... you might want to look into the wire you're using.

Funny thing, I like the red ones better when it comes to the ones I use.

Same here. I have red and black Jazz III's but for whatever reason, I gravitate towards the red ones most of the time.

They have slightly more rigidity than the red ones too.
