> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: John Frusciante Style Lesson by Gabriel Leopardi

Hey guys, I haven't post a take since a long time. I've work hard my guitar on other aims. Anyway.. Here's my take of John Fruscianté style by Gab. I'm not a big fan of RHCP but I like this melody. As listening my take I think i'm a bit undermixed.

Hi Alex!

Great to find a new take from you here! The lesson is really close but there are two elements to adjust:

- bending: The pitch is not precise.

- timing: You tend to play some licks a bit after the beat. Listen to your take and try to identify these sections.

Other than that this is good, just keep on practising with those elements in mind.

Hi Alex, this is pretty good, my friend. Look at your vibrato - that's excellent. Really controlled and even. It takes many people years to get it sounding like that - well done!

Bending - this is one of your weaker areas. Not too bad but could be a lot better, ok?

Timing - Gab mentioned you sounding a bit behind. It's funny because I thought you were ahead in some places, especially when you began that last run.

Overall you're mostly there, just a couple of things to polish - bending and timing. In a lesson like this, every guitarist on this site should be able to get a 10 with some feedback and a few tweaks. You can do it. smile.gif

Well well...smile.gif
What can I say? I'm impressed with your attitude and care for the details. I know guys have pointed some typical issues at the stage of learning how to play but...you need to know that those things sound "almost there", those are not messed up that much smile.gif I think it would be really nice level for a live solo recording smile.gif I can't spot any serious issues here. You bring your full attention and give a deserved time of practise. I guess only thing you need to make it even better is just the time. Bending pitch is not onle a matter of fingers practise - it's an ear workout as well. Try to sing while you bend the note. Try to play it first the "regular way" so you'll have a pitch reference. then try to play the take the way it is in original and I think it should help smile.gif
