I think St.Anger is not that bad, because those songs are angry... and i didn't want next Load or Reload, cuz i think these 2 albums are worst( but there are few great balads like Mama said i must tell). I listened to Frantic at first, and i think it's worst song from the album, but i found other song are pretty good. What do You think??

Yeah, they did something new(sound, composing style etc) which is ok for me.
But I still prefer older stuff. wink.gif

I think the main problem was the Horrible Production, it just sounded so bad to me.

Ok, here is my opinion:

I think that St. Anger is their worst album. I think that all songs are very bad, exept for one: Dirty Window; Dirty Window is the only song from the album that appeals to me. Im not saying its an awesome song, but its the only song i like from the album.

I just hope their next album is NOTHING like St. Anger. Experimenting Era was in Load and Reload times, but this is just wrong sad.gif

Of course, they can do whatever they want. Its their music, and we have to respect that.

Id have to agree with fretdancer here. ride the lightning is one of my favorite albums ever, and for all my metallica bashing(for which i apologize) i really like their first four albums.

I think St. Anger sucks. It's like they finally discovered that their fans didn't want bluesy and soft songs such as the ones on load and reload, and then said to eachoter "well, lets just tune our guitars down, use heavy distortion and play something random, then maybe people will like us again.."

Don't get me wrong, I love Metallica. But St. Anger is just awfull.

Honestly, i got headaches from St.Anger when I first listened to it. It sounds so awful, especially the snare drums. Why don't they say to themselves:"Hey let's make a thrash-metal record like in the old days"?

Ahhh...the good old days. Ride is one great album, but whats up with Kill em all? I've never listened to it but I heard that Hetfields singing was terrible. Is this a myth?

All depends how you look at it.It was there first album and his vocal's are nothing now like they were then. When i first heard it i hated it,then as you become more and more a fan of metallica i learned to enjoy it.The album voice isnt as bad as he sounded live back then in 1982.I just look at it as a starting point that they really improved in but i still love the album.

well, hetfields voice is alot different, but not bad imo. The funny thing from that album is that all songs sound very very similar. But its definately a great album, specially for a 1st album.

My opinion on Saint Anger is that they rushed to put something out that wasent put together right. They were trying to do something new before they knew what they were doing.James voice does not match the drop C tunings they played in,the drums are off bad,no solo's by Kirk,Rob is a good bass player but completly different than Jason. So no i didnt like the album but i still love the band and support them 100%.Sad thing is i do fill like there new album coming out in begining of next year will be similar to this over being like there older stuff.I see there point of saying they dont want to play the same thing and style over and over but at the same time they have to realize that's what made them were they are today.Funny thing is i can listen to ST.Anger and say i like this riff or this vocal ect. but it never sounded good to me all together as one.If they were playing a awesome guitar riff than James singing was bad,or if he was singing good the drums were out of this world or guitar was weak.I really hope they can pull out of this and make a great album again. It doesnt have to be another puppets or black album just something where they are all in time and James is singing like he used to with power . smile.gif

yeah, but remember that alot of stuff was going on, like James's Rehab for 1 year, Jason leaving from the band, etc.

Also remember that the Bass in the St. Anger album was played by Bob Rock, and that was one of the contributions that led to what St. Anger came to be imo. The drums definately are horrible, i dont know what Lars was thinking huh.gif

I also have that feeling about the new album, it doesent have to be another puppets, but who knows, it might be another one or even better. ohmy.gif ohmy.gif , But thats up to them.

I think I'm the only one that likes St anger ohmy.gif

I think people were expecting the album to be too much like the older albums, and put that bias against it fairly quickly.

St Anger sucks big time. If Lars had used his drums instead of beating on plate cookie jars that would have been an improvement.
