So looking to lesson 9, am I supposed to wait to submit a take until I can do quarter notes at 240bpm? Is that the requirement for passing? That seems insanely fast to me.

There are no speed requirements ever in bootcamp. Ever.

You can work at any speed you feel comfy working at. The entire point is to play with precision so as long as you are playing Mission 9 in a precise fashion, the speed of play is entirely up to you. smile.gif I sometimes do video demos displaying what a mission "should" sound like at various speeds. You don't have to join me in playing them that fast, it's just a demo after all smile.gif

I just now went back and edited the lesson to remove any reference to metronome speeds to shoot for. Eventually, at some point in your playing you will be playing bits like this with precision well past 240bpm. For now, don't worry about that at all. Just play the mission with precision and find your own speed. As precision increases speed is a byproduct. So focus on precision smile.gif

How is lesson 9 coming? Remember, any speed of play is fine. As long as you play with precision smile.gif

CONGRATS SOLDIER!!!! Some very spiff shredding there to be sure. Your technique is tighter and more controlled every time you put up a Mission!! Let's debrief!

MEDALS OF HONOR

1.)Spot on right/left hand synch!
2.)Military Grade Alternate Picking!
3.)Solid Palm mute!

I know this is a confusing bit to play. That's why it's here. These are going to continue to get tougher as you go. It's great to see you ripping through them!!! You get your SECOND CHEVRON (Stripe) on your Mission Badge at LEVEL 12. You are knocking on the door!!! Keep it up!!

Congrats Soldier, you just ...

LEVELED UP!!

I tried to record a vid on the iPad but it didn't get the processed sound or metronome. I thought I'd post it anyway, Lesson 10 at 120bpm.

Well Fought Soldier!!!! Now you are walking the PATH OF BLOOD!!!! Some very spiff playing there to be sure. Your technique is tighter and more controlled with each Mission. Let's debrief!

MEDALS OF HONOR

1.)TIGHT right/left hand synch!
2.)Military Grade Alternate Picking!
3.)Rock Solid Palm mute!

You are displaying great control and great technique on these missions. This will serve you well as the mission get more and more complex. This one is a bit of a finger twister and you were spot on. I ran it against a metronome and you did quite well!! Very good use of the PINKY also smile.gif

Congrats Soldier, you just ..

LEVELED UP!!!!!!

Back from the beach, everything going fine so far on Lesson 11. I have the pattern down, but can't practice it as long because of the wide stretch. My hand gets tired quicker and I don't want to push it too far. The tricky bit is ascending the pattern because you're leading with the pinky, which isn't as accurate for me. I'll have it soon smile.gif

BINGO!!!!! The leading pinky is often the tough part in many of these MISSIONS. Leading with the PINKY is not something that is easy at first. However, once you get it, it will make a host of other licks much easier to pull off. It's the most neglected finger on the hand of many a fine player.

VERY NICE!!! You have got the "LEADING PINKY" technique going on really well here. smile.gif Your timing is very good and your alternate picking is quite spiff as well!!! Soldier. I"m gonna throw a bit of a TWIST your way here. You have come a long way and I think you are ready for this. It varies with each player. But I think you have hit the point where you can handle. it.

You are only two missions away from your first DOUBLE CHEVRON badge and I have yet to ask you to do any "MULTI PICKING" There is quite a bit of it to come after MISSION 12. I want to see if you can challenge your fingers to a DUEL!!! Try to take this lick, going up or down the neck, and DOUBLE PICK IT. Just pick every note twice. Sounds easy right? It is a bit harder than it sounds at first. But it will prepare you for what you will face once you cross over to your next seres of challenges.

Again, forget about trying to play this fast. Just play at a COMFY speed. Whatever that is. Double pick, through the entire thing, going up or down the neck. Dealers Choice!!!

You are RIPPING through these and at this rate you will be our highst ranking Soldier in a couple of weeks!!

I think you are ready Soldier!!! Don't let it throw you off itf it seems hard at first. It only seems hard because, it is hard. But you can do it!! I've seen the seeds of greatness in your playing. Time to water them and let them grow!

This is a really nice thing to say... here it is MULTIPICKING! Not too bad, was able to increase speed from the last video from 80->90bpm.

CONGRATS SOLDIER!!!! Welcome to the world of MULTI PICKING!!! For your first time out, you did really well! Let's debrief!

MEDALS OF HONOR

1.)Very spiff finger control on a very tough lick
2.)MULTI PICKING FROM HELL!
3.)Tight right/left hand synch!

You checked all the boxes on technique. What really impresses me though is the multi picking. It sometimes throws people off so bad, they toss the guitar in to a wall. You seem to have a really good handle on it!!! CONGRATS! Well fought Soldier!! Keep at it! Your next mission awaits! Mission 12 is the first "Barrier" to your Double Chevron Badge. You can do it!!!!

Congrats Soldier, you just ...

LEVELED UP!!

Attached Image

You are ready for MISSION 12 and beyond!!! Keep in mind that if a mission has 6 examples, you have to play all 6. Try to do one or two as multi pick!!!

Sarge
