Hi Beat, it's good to see you back after working hard on this lesson.

To me, there's two main things to talk about.

1. Excellent improvements on your use of the volume knob. The volume swells sound a lot better now!

2. Timing is still your weak area. You tend to get a bit ahead of the beat, perhaps due to intense concentration or nerves. When you play phrases, you hit notes too early. It's easy enough to remedy - just stop doing it!

Relax the timing and don't play things too quickly. Play along with Darius's version as well for a reference point.

Hey Beat!

Same as Ben, I can notice improvement at your volume swells execution. You've also fixed some of the licks we've spoke about in private messages. It's definitely a progress.

Some of those licks still need a fix though: (0:20 for example is performed well)


0:52 - missing that fast "go and return" slide ornament. At 0:20 is the same idea but performend they way it should be. You can use it as a reference

0:24 - this lick should note have the same note played twice

1:00 - chorus beginning lick. You separate those notes while 2nd string shiuld ring over 3rd, boosting the gain and power of this part


Those are spots worth prorizing.

As and overall tip for further work there are two aspects:

1. More relax- do not rush. Many of notes begin too early - in front of the beat and it happens quite often. I would really focus on this as it's a one issue that has a huge affect on the listener of your take.

2. There are still many ornamet little slides missing in your take. Please compare your take while going through guitar pro or pdf tabs. Those tiny slides are written down in the tabs and same as some other hidden details, they are the essence of whole phrasing flavor.

I do realize this lesson is not easy at all. It sounds easy because it seems to be easy to put all those notes the "straight" way. There is no speed challenge are hands breaking streches or position shifts but...it's all those little bends, prebends, releases, slides, prenotes that make all the color. There is no other way to make it sound like it should, then going bar by bar and remembering every single articulation notation from the tabs/sheet. Of course text tab doesn't contain full articulation notation, that's why I was pointing to review gp5 file or pdf. Unfortunately there is no shortcut. A lot of things to be pointed in this feedback are already there, in the tabs and slow videos. I know it's a lot to remember (what happens with every singl note) but this is exactly why it sounds like it sounds as a final result.

Hi mate!

I can see that you are already on good hands with this one. Darius is the man to guide you with this killer lesson which is a master class in phrasing and feeling. Take his suggestions and try to breath and relax more while playing this melodies and phrases. The main issue that I note is also timing, which is rushed so it can be totally related to anxiety, and nervous while playing or because of the video recording.

Once you fix the timing issue, you can get into the expression elements like dynamics, vibrato, bending, etc.
