Hi!

I have played the guitar off and on for alng time. But, haven`t procces with the guitar as I want. I feel its the rythm thats the problem, I never learn from the beginning and havent the foundation of rythm play, and have a hard time to go back. Without a plan. Also I sould meansion that I`m lefty but "learn" to play righty with guitar. So my dex in my left hand on the fretboard isn`t a problem when i legato, of course I have along way to go to master legato. But, when its coming to speed picking and holding a rythm at the same time with my right. I need to concetrate really hard, and it feels I`m stuck there.

I send three files here with something I just set record over mobil and played somethng a while ago, one over a backingtrack I found on youtube.

So you maybe can, hear where I`m at with my playing.

Regard Magnus

Hi friend! Welcome to GMC! I'm Gabriel, guitar instructor here and I'm open to receive new students into my mentoring program.

Is there any possibility that you upload these files to soundcloud? or maybe convert them to mp3 format? For any reason my mobile computer cannot reproduce them and I'm not at my studio now (I'll be out the first days of july)

Also, if you can create a youtube account in which you share videos of you playing can be much more helpful for us to check your playing and give feedback.

Check out my personal board and let me know if you'd like to join my program.

WELCOME TO GMC!! smile.gif I"m Todd Simpson and I"m also a Staff Instructor here @ GMC smile.gif I'd love to invite you to join my mentoring program as well smile.gif You can have as many as you like and you can quit any mentoring program at any time if you need to and start back later if you like wink.gif No pressure.

My program focuses on alternate picking, and what is called "Shredding" by most folks. Generally playing with precision. If you'd like to learn more or join up, please just send me a personal message here on GMC by clicking on my icon and then click SEND MESSAGE. smile.gif

Gabe has some really good suggestions here on uploading your music to soundcloud.com. It's free and you can embed the music in your posts so that people can play them directly in the post. Like so (just click play below)

https://soundcloud.com/techniqueswithtodd/x9-backing-track-f-pentatonic-funk

That way, anyone can play the music no matter what system/software they have. Also, soundcloud is entirely FREE. So it's a great thing to join as a musician smile.gif Also, youtube, again FREE, if you don't have an account, go grab one so you can upload videos as well and embed them here at GMC smile.gif Videos are a big part of my mentoring process. Here is an example of embedding a video in a post. It's very easy smile.gif Just click INSERT SPECIAL ITEM/YOUTUBE VIDEO and follow the directions. This vid is from my weekly shred challenge which I invite you to try smile.gif

Looking forward!!
Todd

Here we go.

https://soundcloud.com/5warxpspmu8b/record-1

https://soundcloud.com/5warxpspmu8b/record-2

https://soundcloud.com/5warxpspmu8b/record-38

I`m gonna get a youtube channel, but for now I dont have a cam to record. I`m gonna get one this week.smile.gif

I`m Interesting in both mentoring program. But, right now I feel I want to focus on rythm and really get that down. I skipped most of the
fundamental of rythm guitar when I first tried to learn guitar. But, Its really hard to go back there and practice it. It always ends with goofing around with penta scale haha.
So, I`m intresting in joining your mentoring program Gabriel:)
And when I get into shredding and break that down, I definitely gonna check your mentoring program Todd:)

Right now I dont have that much time to sit down and really practice. Can manage 1h per day now.

Hey there Magnus! Wellcome to the site! As Gab and Todd suggested - you can choose them to lead you through all your playing progress depending on what playing style path you choose smile.gif

Never hesitate to share your thoughts on forum. We (instructors) and maybe more experienced students are there to help. First of all you need to specify a very short list of things you enjoy to play so we could suggest some lessons proper for your level and musical taste. It would be a best start smile.gif

Could be a good idea:)

I like alot of music. Hardrock, funk, blues, Instrumental rock.
Favorite guitarist are. Steve vai, Joe satriani, John Petrucci, Steve ray vaughan, joe bonamassa and many more:)
Its hard to say what level I`m on in my playing. I need to practice on everything, in my playing I have practice alittle that and that.
So, have jumped alot. I dont have any own basic licks and rythm down, I have mostly just picked up the guitar and play something.

basically, its from basic rythm, arpeggios to more advanced stuff. And I want to learn all about blues playing:)
Later on, I want to learn some music theory aswell:)

Yep, it works fine now smile.gif

Your playing is quite descent I would say. I guess you sort of miss a concept on how to develope it. You can do thi in a few different fields - technique and ability of tone control by mastering lots of dynamics and articulation. If you liked the backing track maybe you would liek to challenge whole this lesson so I could notice where your playing has strong points and where you could need some advice ?smile.gif

That would be awesome man! It's a great startting point. By watching your take I can spot some issues to mark and suggest some tweaks. Then we can go further and see what happens smile.gif

Started to learn the lesson yesterday, Its many small things to think about:) I havent played for awile so my callus are gone, so I really is struggling with the bend, especially when holding it and then to try to vibrato it alittle haha. And vibrato is something I need to work on, but
with more practice I think I`m gonna get it down:)
