I agree
He was tagged perhaps unfairly as the "YNGWIE CLONE" just because that was what was happening at the time. His own style before more varied over time, just like many great players who started off being just a pinch to YNGWIE
But yeah, he wasn't in ALCATRAZZ as far as I know (to respond to D man), as I mentioned, it was
STEVE VAI who later replaced him. Some killer guitars players in that band

I think that, like Vinnie Moore and Paul Gilbert, their early work was definitely Yngwie and neo classical influenced and derived, mainly because that's what was popular and, certainly in Vinnie's case, what the record companies wanted them to play.. we all know how incredible Vinnie and Paul became when allowed to be the players they wanted to be
Even though Impellitteri didn't achieve the same level of recognition he deffo broke out of the Yngwie sound and developed his own thing.. I listened to a lot of his later stuff when coming up with lessons and there's some mind blowing guitar playing on there!
A quick googling is often called for in such cases
Impelliteri played with Graham who was in Alcatrazz, but the Imp man was never in Alcatrazz himself at all as far as I"m aware

IT could be this way. I remember someone telling me this but he might mess things up
