A big part of the JC-120 is that it's in a big, open back combo box with two high efficiency 12" speakers. It is friggin LOUD and CLEAN and pretty 'spacious' all on it's own, even w/o the chorus.
The JC-40 (40 watts, 2-10") doesn't really sound like a 120 due to it's reduced size. I'm skeptical of the new little one with 6.5" speakers. *The new JC-22 is listing for almost $500 here in the US ... which seems like a lot of scratch for a transistor mini amp.
