Since it has been taking forever to get an invite to buy the Fractal Audio unit that I am on the wait list for, I have slowly been acquiring pedals to use with my Rockerverb.
My latest addition is the MXR Dyna Comp (script logo) which is basically a tweaked (true bypass) reissue of the 76 Dyna Comp.
I should have some time to play around with it today and provide some feedback later. Anyone use one of these or an original version?

Fine pedal smile.gif What are you using for a noise gate? I can personally vouch for the MXR Smart Gate and the SENTRY gate. The Sentry is a bit more confusing to use though as the MXR is mostly a bit knob. I like it a bit more actually smile.gif

Please don't use an ISP product of any kind. They have a problem with cutting off the end of your sustain IMHO. I've tried 2 different ones and sent them both back. Kept the MXR.

Hey AK Rich,

Its been a while since I played one, I remember it didn't like to be treated as a boost atleast for extra gainy stuff compared to other comp.s. More of a mojo pedal either set to extreme or slight values.

I suggest recording with and without it while adapting to your rig, aim for that subtle difference which makes the tone more polished/sittes better inside the music. Keep in mind it doesn't always have to be on or work for everything but I'm sure you'll find it to be useful on the long run.

Thanks Todd. I haven't picked up a noise gate as of yet but I will certainly consider those MXR products. I have been pretty satisfied with them over the years.

Thanks Mertay. Yeah, so far I am satisfied with it. I have only really been using it for clean and low gain stuff. It really is a simple compressor that I am only using to get a bit more clarity, definition, and character. It's definitely more of a mojo pedal as you suggested which is basically what I was looking for.
I will probably be looking for another and more versatile and configurable comp for the higher gain stuff. smile.gif

Now I am thinking about picking up an RC boost from Xotic Effects (RCB-V2). Seems like a really nice unit from what I have heard so far.

Happy to help smile.gif I"ve tried nearly every gate on the market and the MXR Smart Gate really does have some of the finest control and is one of the easiest to use IMHO. It's quite simple to setup. I bought the SENTRY gate after hearing good things about it as well, but it's a bit a bit harder to use/dial in imho than the smartgate. Both of which are better than the ISP overall which is heresty for ISP folks of course smile.gif I owned two versions of the isp and head to head the smart gate blew the isp away. I like the sentry but I don't use it so I think I'l sell it. Maybe buy a spare smart gate:)
