Hello friends!

I'd like to tell you about a very beautiful experience that I'll live this Friday. I've been rehearsing all this month for a very important gig in order to replace the lead guitarist on the backing band of a legendary Argentinian Singer called Leon Gieco. He is honestly a legend and this is like a dream for me. I can remember singing his songs when being a child at school and analyzing his very interesting and compromised lyrics.

The show will be at on of the most important festival and it's in the south of Argentina: Rio Negro.

This is the same stage, the previous year:

His music has strong Argentinian Folk roots, but we will be playing rocker versions:

This is his original stuff:

and this is an album with rocker versions:

I'll share some stuff after the show! And be sure to check my instagram and also @gmcaxe where I'll share some stuff using the stories feature. smile.gif

Thank you friends!

This will be my set up:

Attached Image

Small, simple (but effective) because we'll go by plane. I've added that Jekyll & Hyde because I won't use my amp so I need that powerful distortion for some parts, and solos. I think that I'll also add my Bad Horsie Wah Wah next to the pedalboard...

Looks awesome! When you get a chance, could you say a few words about how you got the gig and how you prepared for it?

Sure!

You know that I've been playing with my band for 12 years. We released 3 albums, 1 dvd, 2 Eps, and played all along the country, some other close countries, and shared stages with bands like Metallica, Incubus, Dave Mathews Band, Paramore, etc. During this beautiful musical journey I've known lots of musicians and people of the business. I have to say that I was completely out when we started because we didn't have any friend or relative who was in the business. So we have to build each contact from zero.

2 years ago, I was called by a drummer and a bass player to create a parallel metal project. I knew them from other bands and I though that it would be a great idea. We had some amazing jams, but then we couldn't continue due to agenda issues. We always say each other, we have to play together anytime! That drummer's main band is now Gieco's backing band and as their guitarist was on vacation, he contacted me to replace him. You can suspect my answer.. biggrin.gif The concert was going to be really big (we played for more than 60000 persons) so I think that the fact that I've played for big full stadiums in the past make them trust that I was going to react well in front of that amount of people.

They sent me the demos on December 20th, casually when I was going on vacation, and we would have the first rehearsal on January 3rd. They said me that I had to play lead guitar, every solo, melody and arrangement. So I have to study the songs while being on vacation.. here is a pic taken by my girlfriend while learning the songs with my acoustic guitar from my cellphone:

Attached Image

I've used a notepad to write down song structures and some chord progressions or details to remind about each song and played them every day before going to sleep.

We've done 8 rehearsals and recorded them to check later and adjust details, and that's all!

Let me know if you'd like to know anything else. smile.gif
