Hi mate, thanks for your info!
Based on your video and your guitar goals, I think that the techniques that need more work are at this point are: - Vibrato - Bending - Alternate Picking - Economy Picking As you have 30 minutes for diary practice, you need to use this time wisely. This is what I recommend for the first week: ROUTINE #1: Alternate Picking work (15 minutes): During this first wek work on parts 1 and 2 from this lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Killer...kk-Wylde-Style/ Bending & Vibrato (15 minutes): Learn and practice this lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginn...ending-Workout/ -------------------- My lessons

Hi mate, this is the video that you've asked via PM: Thanks GL! This was a big help... Makes sense now. Regarding complimenting the 2 lesson ideas with the ITC and the Guitar Gym exercises, could you let me know which ones and for how many minutes to supplement with? Ideally I'd like to get to where when I can practice I am at 45 minutes to an hour. Finally (for now!), how do GMC'ers keep a diary going of their practice? Cheers Thanks GL! This was a big help... Cheers Forgot to add (I always do)- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...54900&st=40 This was the 2nd and killer guitar routine from the gym course back in 2015. My question is in Block 2 where you play 15 12 15 12 etc. At 120bpm is this using quarter notes or 8th notes, etc? How do you know just by looking at the tabs with the bpm? Silly question but when I see a particular bpm I've always just matched songs to the beat and haven't really worked on keeping the bpm timing with the exercises, etc. Thx! KH |

Hi mate, great to see you using the Guitar Gym. I think that the link answered your question on what to work and how much time. Let's use those routines. Take routine 1 or 2 and work on it for this week.
About your question about rhythm. You need to learn about note values. Most of the Routine 2 exercises are based on triplets which means that you'll play 3 notes on each beat. Please check out this: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=48918 If you start with these topics: How to Read Time Signatures How to Read Whole Notes How to Read Half Notes How to Read Quarter Notes How to Read 8th Notes How to Read 8th Note Triplets You'll learn what you need to know to understand how to read the licks. There links will also help: Theory Lesson on Music Notation https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/misc-less...ng-and-writing/ -------------------- My lessons

I now have a much better understanding of timing. There was one thing that seemed missing but I looked it up and was curious on in reference to Routine 1, Block 2 (https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=54900&st=0) Here we do not have triplets, the notes are quarter notes grouped into beams of 4 notes. Side question- Is it better to use the word grouping or beams when notes are strung together like this or in the triplet form, etc.? What is the professional music lingo for that? So the main question is since we do not have bars on this exercise and the notes are grouped in 4's does this mean that the goal is to play 4 quarter notes in one beat at 120bpm as its directed on the tab? So 8 5 8 5 in one beat? Thank you as always! |

Hi mate, do you refer to this exercise?
This is 1 measure and those are 16th notes so you'd play 4 notes per beat. Does it make sense? This post has been edited by Gabriel Leopardi: Apr 28 2017, 02:03 PM -------------------- My lessons

My fault, we have 16th notes on that measure (I've just fixed my comment). So 1 quarter notes is equivalent to four 16th notes.
Is it clear now? -------------------- My lessons

CLEAR. Each beam is 4/16 or 1/4 which matches with the time signature for the bar Now I just need impeccable timing haha Perfect! Go for it. -------------------- My lessons

Hi mate, the secret is to economise movements. You need to make small movements and try to find the most effective way for you to economise movements. It would be helpful to see a video of you playing it to give more specific feedback.
