I just got news of this in a promotional email. $999 seems to be the same modelling, but stripped down I/O. Not sure about the other details, check out the website to read more about it. Wonder why this wasn't mentioned at Winter NAMM?

They certainly kept this quiet. The I/O ports they removed probably weren't being used by 99% of Helix users anyway. No scribble strips hurts, but I'm sure that had to go to get the price under $1000.

I'm glad this came out AFTER I got my Amplifire 12, it would have been a hard choice. There is only a £90 price difference here with Amplifire being cheaper. I think the Amplifire is probably simpler to use.

Now I'm wondering should I swap? rolleyes.gif

Tough decision. The Amplifire is relatively expensive in the UK, making the price differential smaller than it is elsewhere.

Yeah, the Amplifire is $799 here in the US. I can't imagine it's easier to use than the Helix. With that screen and UI, I thought that was one of the major innovations Line 6 is credited with. I love my Helix.

I love my AA12 but the Helix does look pretty rolleyes.gif There is much goodness being said about both. Does the Helix have a Harmonizer and whammy? The AA doesn't at the moment.

Investigation is needed, there will most definitely be an A/B test very soon. If it's black and white I will think about changing but if it's more a gray area then I won't bother because no doubt others will be entering the arena very soon. The screen on the AA isn't very good tbh but I only use from my PC.

Cheers

Yes, it has those effects, here's a list from the original launch They've added amps, effects, etc... since launch. It's the same sound processing core as the original Helix, just looks like only hardware reductions to lower the price. So, all impressions of the original Helix would still apply.

Here's the differences I didn't realize it still had two effects loops. I've loved having mine all this time and do like the scribble strips, but now, this is the modeler to have IMO.

Handy having fx loops smile.gif You can still use pedals and such and program which ones are live. Seems like you'll dig the line 6 smile.gif
