Hey Phil,

I can notice that you want to do this change so I think that you should go for it. I have not experience with these two devices so I can't give specific comments but from what I can note in your comments, I don't think that you'll regret this move, but maybe you'll regret if you don't do it.

Follow your heart, send it back. smile.gif

Thanks Gab,

It's gone back now, i hope i don't regret it, it was a super piece of kit smile.gif

Make a quick video if you can on the ATOMIC before you send it back and put it on your youtube channel! I'd love to hear the patches and see a walk through of it. I'm sure others would as well smile.gif I do that when I get get, even if I sell it I still have the review up.

Good to know that you can try the ATOMIC and then try the Helix smile.gif As long as you can try what youi are in good shape smile.gif Getting new experience with new gear is always a good thing IMHO smile.gif

CONGRATS on your new HELIX btw smile.gif Killer box!

Todd

Sorry Todd, I didn't get home from work until late last night, didn't have time but there are loads over on YT smile.gif

People say the AA has better/more accurate amp tones but as long as you like the tones it doesn't really matter if they're accurate. Also, apparently if you get a couple of decent IRs you're set up.

I can't really help you mate, I don't know if I;ve made the right choice yet unsure.gif

Thanks for letting us know, now I have more time to think about it. Played with Amplifire yesterday, and it sounded so good, making me more confused...

Yeah, I did really like the Amplifire, it had a good "alive", going from the GT100 it was like changing an old set of strings for new on an acoustic. That extra vibrancy, tonality, naturalness. It just lacked a few effects that I wasn't sure would ever make it to the end product. Also, the Line 6 Patch exchange is pretty big. For what I do I want a one box solution without buying and trying pedals.

On another note, I've heard that the Helix fx loops are quite noisy due to not being of the quality of the rest of the unit, whether that will be address in the LT I don't know, I doubt it though so, that's something for you to keep in mind if you are thinking about going that route.

Cheers

You should be ok though, like you said, you are looking for a one box solution and the line 6 is certainly that. The wah pedal is even included so you don't have to go out and by a mission engineeering pedal and then mount the entire affair to a pedal board, which you need to buy as well. It can get pricey. Some folks like two pedals, one volume, one wah, so two mission engineering pedals and a bigger pedal board to mount it all too. Get's pricey. Where as the line 6 is just complete as is an controllable via software which is handy as heck IMHO. I can't imagine having to make patches using just the tiny front screen on my 11 rack for example. I haven not had to do that since I quit using my GNX3!

I have a Roland EV-5 which works, apparently if you reverse the polarity in the Helix software. smile.gif

On a side note, I think the digital route as given us professional level at a relatively affordable price. I feel a kind of guilt that even if I am a beginner I have gears I could gig with. Then I think to Robben Dumble.......

Dumble made maybe 3 amps per year. He's pretty much retired. There are maybe 300 of them in total. They go around 100k used!! OUCH!!! Somebody will hopefully profile a few so that the kemper folks can have them if they don't already smile.gif I'm sure there are patches named "DUMBLE", but I'm guessing very few that were actually made using dumble amps. They are just so freaking rare. Guys like Santana own them. Not guys that typically own kempers. Hard core tube guys that have money. Like famous guitar players that came up in the 60's70s/80's who still use tube amps on tour.

You'd almost have to see the video of the profile being made in order to believe it was real smile.gif

I'm sure these amps sound killer, but 100k for an amp? Just seems crazy. It's the price of a small condo here in the states, or a very small house, or a very nice car smile.gif I gotta say the profile, if done well, would be plenty for me. That's assuming I find a kemper for wholesale smile.gif

Update:

The first UK units are now in stock at Andertons so I should get it early next week smile.gif I'm a little nervous to be honest unsure.gif I remember when I first plugged in the beast that is the Amplifire 12, it blew me away with how natural and organic it sounded, I hope this does the same as it is a shot in the dark buying it due to the circumstances.

I have 2 days left.

Please discuss, please advise, please HELP.

Thanks

Will do, but I'll do a new thread wink.gif

I'm getting nervous. I'm not expecting it to be as good out of the box as the AA but I'm only going on what I've read mainly about the stock cabs and that you need IRs to get it as good as the AA.

This guy says at the beginning that everyone is saying that the stock cabs are insufficient but shows you how to love them.

Here is everything you need to know about the LT.

The good news is you can just grab the RED WIREZ ir pack and be good to go smile.gif Great stuff in there. TH2 leds you load IR cabs which I've done on many presets and it really can make a world of difference. The line 6 cabs do need a bit of help out of the box I hear, but that's not entirely uncommon and a simple fix with some tweaks or some IR packs smile.gif So no need to worry there smile.gif It's a fine unit with vastly more options and flexibility than the AA which is a bit more straightforward IMHO. But you can take your time to grow in to it and if Line 6 stays true to form, you will be able to buy new amp/fx/cab packs as time goes by. smile.gif
