First check these video's, for those who never heard of it the digitech cabdryvr is an IR cab. solution pedal.

So they don't use an amp...I mentioned before as currently I'm using an old processor as a clean amp, it has a super basic cab. sim. but gives me 5 bands of parametric eq. With those eq's I replicate clean preamps smile.gif either by ear or for example, I make a preset using amplitube or any vsti then analyze its responce and replicate that with the eq.

This isn't do-able for many guitar players out there but products hint evolution to that direction. Amp-in-a-box pedals are already popular, even wampler makes an amp for them now. Everything is getting more and more customizeable.

Imagine; drive from a vox, eq from a fender, cab from marshall, poweramp sound from mesa...won't take too long until someone makes a processor that works in this fashion but easy enough for a guitar player to use. It's already happening in the plug-in world and even analog to some extent.

Cool Stuff! That little multi pedal that you mentioned from ZOOM can do the same thing right? Load a given cab? I think 8 cabs in total. The MS50G, and it's better half, the version that takes updates with bluetooth. Also, the one I have from hotone the Xstomp loads cabs and they release new cabs each week which is very cool. I"l bet that this digitech unit is not as expensive as the other two I mentioned though. Just checked, it's about $150 for the cabdryver and double that for the Xstomp. However the zoom is 50 bux cheaper than the cabdriver. Still, it's good to see an option for bass/guitar that's very simple to use. No screen interface, just turn the knob and pick your tone and bam. smile.gif I'd like to try one.

With the new (and final) update the ms50g has 22 amps+cab.s and yeah you can mix them; https://www.zoom.co.jp/sites/default/files/..._FX-list_v3.pdf

Their newer models however (g3n, g5n) can load only cab. or amp (if needed, cool if one has line-out on amp)+sounds are improved. If amp sim. is needed the newer models are better while the ms50g can handle any other fx needed if small size is prefered.

But such units have simple filters for cab. emulation, their curve complexity cannot be matched with an impluse. The digitech cannot load 3rd party impulses but the ones inside seems cool, I hear its sales started off pretty good. Add a cheap joyo amp pedal to it and ones ready+ultra portable for a gig.

Edit; If your elevan rack doesn't support impluses this pedal can be a perfect upgrade for you.

I guess it's similar to multi-FXs that include amp modelling (BOSS, Line6, etc)?

If you mean the ms50g yeah its a multi-fx in a pedal sized box, maybe in 1-2 years they will introduce a new model but zoom prefers to slowly update their processors. The beauty of the cabdryvr is being able to mix multiple products for an amp sound.

It would be a very easy way to add some new cab irs for sure! To nearly any rig that doesn't import IR files. Thankfully, I've found a few of the cabs in the 11 that I like quite a bit. They did a good job emulating the ones that they did pick, thank goodness!!

The zoom pedal is an entire rig in one pedal it seems, still wanna try one of those out smile.gif

The bluetooth version is now discontinued and all fx that were sold separate are now free. From what I read it has extra bass amps compared to the ms50g and can store all fx (ms50g doesn't have enough space for all the listed fx, but those can be add or deleted from the software). Try finding bluetooth version for cheap, stores are probably trying to blowout these right now.
