Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Cool to see another REC from you! This one is not as enjoyable musically - the biggest problem to my ears are the many bends that are out of tune.

Also hand sync is not working well in the faster runs - which gives you bad tone and missed notes.

I will give you a 4 on this one - but I think you will be able to nail it quite easily with more practicing considering the level of your other take.

Keep up the great work!

Hi again mate,

This is not an easy lesson but it's a good choice to let us identify which are the things that need attention in your playing. Besides an overall adjustment, I could mark these techniques as the more important to improve:

- Bending: Most of your bends aren't reaching the right pitch. This happens with every type (miro bends, half bends, whole bends). In many the cases I note that you are not using any other finger from your left hand to help the one that is bending. That's essential to get a precise bend. I recommend you to get into this lesson: LINK

- Alternate Picking (Hands Sync): When playing fast alternate picking passages, the sound becomes unclean and it's because your hands are not going in sync. Work on Alternate Picking exercises with metronome, and focus on making both hand going in sync, and in doing really small movements (economise movements). Recommended lesson: LINK.

- Vibrato: It's not bad at all, but sometimes it's not consistent. It starts too early or the vibration is irregular, and/or not connected with the track's groove.

- Cleanness: This is related to the hands sync issue, but it's also applicable to some legato licks. Put some attention on avoiding unwanted noises.

Ok friend, I hope that this feedback give you some ideas on how to keep on working on this one. Feel free to contact me if you need any more help.

Keep on the hard work!

Hey there again!

My first impression is similar to Kris note. This one is not as enjoyable as Lukather style take you delivered. It's a weird thing happening here. In Lukather's take on the long bends you had really nice pitch precision. In here you are somewhere around correct pitch - somtimes a little too low, sometimes a little too high. I'm just guessing but this can be cased by low track volume while recording or your whole guitar was tuned a little too high and you refered mostly to guitar pitch itself, while bending

In this one your tone has something unpleasant in it - a kind of "gummy" response or like a wah wah pedal turned on and locked on particular low position. It reminds me of old distortion stomp-boxes, where while rolling of some guitar volume, all the dynamics where gone same as lots of treble. Guido tends to use quite "wide and open" tone. You need to get some nice "sparkling" out of your tone setup to have proper dynamics response for this lesson. Even if your Tone for Lukather's take might been a little too scooped, it sounded better than the one you set up here...or it's just a matter of something else in the signal chain
