Thanks for all the great advice guys. An old used amp is exactly what I'm looking for, I just didn't know that until this thread.

Orange are great amps ... but not renowned for their cleaner sounds. *Vintage 70's models did have a decent clean tone but the new ones aren't actually like them at all (same with Vox IMO).

Fender is really what you want. Wattage wise, at least 40 watts. One of the Deluxe or Vibrolux style models. Can be the 'hot-rod' or 'de ville' types.

If you do go Vox, make it an AC 15 at least. The 30 will have more clean headroom.

Peavey 'Classic 30' is great!
Ampeg does nice clean but a diff style than Fender or Vox.

SUPER clean - Roland JazzChorus.

My Orange Rockerverb 50 has fantastic clean tones IMO. Paired with my FX8 it's straight up dreamy.

Funny you said that.

I just purchased this, it does EVERYTHING I want it to do...

Listen to the Clean tone! And by itself (because my Marshall stays at my friends house) it sounds freaking phenomenal.

Sounds like a fair trade. smile.gif Compromise is a good thing! I just got done rebuilding our lower deck complete with a white lattice skirting and 2 sets of steps down from that and another full set of stairs that land on my lower deck from my upper deck that I just put new handrails on. And my work is only just begun! laugh.gif I spent a lot of money on gear lately. rolleyes.gif

I did a full video review on this head a long while back. Great sound smile.gif But it's a single channel amp so if you wanna do dirty and clean through it, you gotta set it clean and use boost/pedals/what not for your dirty channel. That said, it should work just fine smile.gif Plenty loud and with a distortion pedal or pod or what not for your dist/fx, it's a complete rig.

Yes - that's the down part. But on the off chance I were to ever gig again, my Marshall is my amp and this would be used on it's clean channel running both amps simultaneously.

So for practice at home it's perfect, plus I keep my Marshall head at home. I still prefer to record direct using it.

Gotcha smile.gif I mentioned this in another thread as well, about gigging and getting a stereo cab so you can carry just one cab and still use both heads. or for that matter getting two 2x12 cabs or even 2 1x12 cabs. But that's all down the road once you start to plan for gigging and such smile.gif For now your set!

Much to my wife's horror, I couldn't stop at just that mask, I had to get a real hand made replica - I couldn't resist when I saw this silver one.

I think it will go over a bit more professional at the office too. smile.gif

Thinking about starting a video series of cover songs and starting each one with a caption "I'm not Jim Root, I'm not worthy to wash his balls - I just like the mask". Be funny if it went viral and Root caught a hold of it, then we do a video at the golf course and I'm his caddie washing his golf balls.
