I am not sure I understand you, who is supposed to be intelligent? And why would it make more sense for me to speak about indoctrination rather than education? Indoctrination is what happens in totalitarian countries, not democracies with free press.

It's a long running theme for conservatives that Universities are hot beds of "liberal wacko type professors" who indoctrinate students into their way of thinking.

The blue counties might be better educated, but that chart looks like it was created in a red county, what with the way they can't even spell a simple word like "degrees".

here is a map based on census data where dark blue indicates an area with a high concentration of folks with a bachelors degree. The lighter the blue, the less folks with more than high school. It's pretty heavy on the coasts as one might expect, and a bit thin in the middle and goes to chunks of pure white in the deep south. Meaning almost nobody in that county went beyond high school.

You clearly have not spent much time in rural white Trump Country. You can find it on this map color coded in appropriate red.

Sweden makes the top 10 in the best places to live in this list, and every other list I have ever seen.

a quick google search shows , where all you smart people gather ,crime and dept is sure to follow , huh

P.S. also those same places are heavily controlled by those loving democrats , you no ( I m misspelled that for you R ) like Chicago, how many shootings were there on the forth of July ?

I love it how you switch up and shoot the discussion in another direction. Misdirection works on some folks smile.gif Anyhoo, here is a handy link with a peer reviewed study on how the 90-100 percent of scientists agree on the facts of climate change. One of the peer reviewed articles within the study shows it at 97%. I don't expect anyone on the other side to accept this of course, as it's just too rational of an argument from too impeccable a collection of sources so it must be "Fake News" smile.gif

http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/...326/11/4/048002

Anyhoo, the preponderance of evidence and the bulk of scientists all seem to agree. This is, quite simply, why I sit on their side of the argument. See how simple that was? From the other side, it gets more complicated as it's more an article of faith within conservative circles. Anything based on 10 percent or less of scientific thought is difficult at best to defend. However, after much research, the KOCH brothers (oil barons) seem to be funding wads of research to create the other side of this particular argument. They are in the oil biz, so they are big fans of no restrictions on carbon emissions. Just gotta follow the money.

Again, don't expect anyone on the other side to be swayed by this as it's fact based, and peer reviewed journal based. Making it packed with too many "experts", which half of all Americans simply don't believe or trust. So there you have it wink.gif Some things, folks, arguments are simply intractable.

But as mentioned, we are beyond the point where we could stop what's coming. So it's almost a moot point. Sea level rise is just a measurable part of life now and for the next several decades and it's really this generations children that will suffer the results. Not having any kids, I'm not invested in the results as much.

On a positive note, Russians are BIG FANS of climate change as they are having more temperate summers and warmer winters. The frozen parts of the world are going to become much nicer smile.gif The bad news is that the southern united states is expected to have a rise in deaths associated with hotter summers which are trending up and have been for years and don't show signs of slowing.

People will tell you all scientists agree you should rotate the tires on your car. This is a hoax! There is no such consensus. Truth has a well-known liberal bias. As long as someone disagrees with the majority opinion, it must be a hoax!

Here is a scientific article (well, a youtube video, but it's the same thing) that is peer reviewed (well, it has youtube comments, but it's the same thing) that exposes this vast conspiracy. Todd, tell me how your science can explain this! Do you not understand that when I write something, that makes it true?

I wonder why this thread has not been shut down since it seems to meet the criteria for shutting down threads in this forum?
And maybe it is time to have another vote on whether or not we need to discuss politics at a musicians site since the quality here in such threads has seemed to degrade into something that resembles what you might find in the bottom of an outhouse and the slinging of such substances.

There are many social situations where political discussion is discouraged because it is counterproductive. I agree with Rich, GMC should be one such a place where political topics are avoided.

If the forum structure would have allowed it, I'd like to see a political and buy/sell section in the forum but such section(s) would never appear when clicked "view new posts".

lets just say I am going to agree on everything in this , can you agree on the validity of both eth zurich and nasa stating there has been a pause in the warming trend ( many other warming sites agree to this as well

P.S. I am not trolling you , not trying to change your mind , but trying to show my mindset , but if you don't realize the pause it is futile for me to try

I love how the first thing you pull up is THE DAILYCALLER, a site founded by TUCKER CARLSON of FOX NEWS. You might as well quote Breitbart. It defeats your argument before you even make it when you use such tremendously biased sources. Try a non partisan resource, perhaps NASA?

Oh wait, that won't work, NASA disagrees with you on this. Hmm. Well, try to find one that's not tied directly to such a right wing bunch like FAUX NEWS. Just can't take them seriously, nor Tucker. It's back to "Article of Faith" at that point.

I have been to our universities, and by and large they are run by educated, enlightened people that care for their fellow man, even when the fellow man is an immigrant. After all, all of our forefathers were immigrants.

If nasa says pause, then I'll buy pause smile.gif I trust NASA. They have a bunch of smart people at that place. Much smarter than I am and much more versed in climate science than I will ever be. But they are "experts" and about half the nation has rejected the testimony of "experts".

Best quote ever smile.gif "Truth has a well-known liberal bias" it kinda does as it's often linked to "Facts". Given that we live in a fact free/ alternative fact world, Truth must be a Hoax smile.gif

I know this was done in 2014 and I will gladly work with this or a NASA study that says it has started rewarming , despite what you have been saying I am not denying the science
